Further to my post the other day, son got the £25 cheque back from the bank today as it had been stopped by Mobile Phone Buyer. He has now told me there was a crack on the screen of the phone which I suppose must have some effect on the price they would give. Is this worth pursuing or should he just bank the £3 cheque and put it down to experience.
    Thanks
  • Shame. Unfortunately, I assume they are within their t&c and unless you can prove the screen wasn't cracked (virtually impossible to do as it could have been cracked in transit even IF you could prove it wasn't when sent) and therefore you have to lump it.
  • I have sold my old Sony Ericsson 810i to FoneBank.com and am extremely happy with the service as well. Not only have I received my cheque within a few days (during the Christmas season!) but also I could choose which way of payment I prefer (cheque, bank transfer or vouchers).

Fonebank paid more than the other websites and I´ll be sure to use it again.
  • Sent 2 nokiia n95's, 7650 and 6680 and ipod mini to Bananagreen.com at the end of november, by special delivery so i knew they got them.
Month later heard nothing trying phoning and emailing but getting no response.
So much for payment within 5 days!!
    :(

Sent 3 K220i phones to Mobile Phone Xchange for a return cheque of £45.00.

Received a text saying a cheque for £3.00 would be with me within 10 days.

Argued the toss, they said I had sent them 3 x J200i phones.

I said I could supply the IMEI numbers of all three phones.

Email received saying "I have had the phones re-inspected and the error was on our part, I am very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you"

Yes it was inconvenient..........numerous emails and phone calls, phone calls I found out after being told someone would call me back, is in fact a CALL CENTRE.

MAKE A NOTE OF THE IMEI NUMBERS BEFORE YOU SEND IT OFF

  • Avoid CEX if you can, I sent them my wife's Samsung in as new condition and boxed, they then sent me half the money promised claiming it was scratched and said I couldn't have the phone back as they'd sold it on, then ignored any further communication! Nothing more I can do

How picky are they (envirophone) when it comes to scratches on phones. I want to send in a viewty, its a year old but has a few scratches on the screen and some of the silver colour is coming off. It also has some weird streaky effect over the screen. It does work perfectly though....

Mazuma were excellent when it came to phones in less than mint condition, one had a cracked screen (still worked) and the other had lost the plastic sliders so the phone's two pieces were barely attached to one another and I still got 100% of the working price quoted when I put in the order.

  • Boots do this too in exchange for boots points http://www.bootsrecycle.com/consumer/index.asp?gclid=COOp7KGj_5cCFRE6EAodzlmrCQ

They also send you an envelope free and then allows you to send the phones freepost. We did this last year and got over £100, in points, for 3 phones. I did compare it to others at the time and remember thinking it was a good price when taking into account the postage costs. Furthermore, these points were then saved for christmas presents in there 3 for 2 offer, which we managed to catch when they had the most expensive free, and got relatives and friends gifts with them for £70 worth of points.

Only annoying thing is that they only allow you to send 3 phones in a calender year.
