has anyone sold their phone to mobilephonexchange? as I'm thinking of selling my old phone to them?

I have just traded my Nokia N73 mobile with mobilephonexchange.co.uk. I checked the prices offered by the recycling companies listed on MSE and found that mobilephonexchange.co.uk was one of the highest payer for my phone. They were paying £54 for my Nokia N73. And another reason for choosing mobilephonexchange.co.uk was that they are listed on Quidco too and were paying cashback of £3.80. These two things went in favour of mobilephonexchange.co.uk to trade my phone.

Ok. Apart from submitting other details on their website, I chose the option of 'Sent Phone in PrePaid Envelope of MobilePhonExchange' and to receive the money I chose the option of directly transfering the money to my bank account rather than receiving the cheque.

After entering the order, the Free Post envelope arrived on the second day. There was also a letter enclosed by them explaining everything about this transaction. I had a doubt about the charger whether I should also send the charger with the phone. So I called them up and asked about it. They said that the charger is not required to be sent. Just the phone and the battery. And finally before popping in the phone into the envelope I made sure that I had erased all my contacts list, text messages, photos from the list. And also took out the SIM card and the memory card.

The next day I handed this Free Post envelope at Post Office and took the Certificate of Posting. Obviously I took the risk of sending my phone by Free Post and not by Recorded Delivery.

On the fourth day, I got the text message from MPX (MobilePhoneXchange) saying that they have received my phone and they would sent my payment in 10 working days. It was a breath of relief knowing that my phone had been received and was in good condition.

Five days later, I checked my bank account online and found that I had received the money by CHAPS and not through BACS because BACS takes 3 working days whereas CHAPS takes 24 hours to transfer the money and is more expensive than BACS.

I also checked my Quidco account and found that my transaction with MPX had been tracked. ;)

So all in all, I am very pleased :D with MPX and I would recommend them to everyone.:T

Impressive. Chaps payments cost them about £25!
  • Hi,
just to say that I had done a little research regarding recycling my broken mobile before coming onto this site. However, after reading a few comments I decided to investigate Mazuma and their offers. My mobile could have been worth £2? or so more with some other site but you had to send the phone in first for them to do their checks and so it wasn't guaranteed that that was the amount you were going to receive. I decided to edge my bets with Mazuma and I have to say that I would Not Hesitate in recommending them to anyone else in the future! Their online help was immidate, as was their postal experience. No sooner had I sent the email to proceed with the sale than I had received my reply paid envelope and details on my doorstep. Again, once I had posted my phone to them it was moreorless the day after, when I had received my cheque! Indeed a prompt service!
  • I applied via evirophone, then was told to avoud them at all costs as unless you send the phone recorded delivery they claim they never got it and to be honest its a really old phone only worth about £5 so not worth paying the recorded.

  • Used cashinmyfone and Mazuma to recycle 2 old phones this month. Both were very efficient, received free jiffy bags within 2 days, returned my phone without using recorded or proof of postage. Received cheques within a week. And Quidco tracked for both of them too.

I used Mazuma mobile and they were extremely efficient and simple to use. I sent mine without proof of postage, purely because I couldn't make it into town in my lunch hour because of the snow! But everything was fine and they've emailed me to say that they've received them and will be sending payment. Brilliant!
  • Hiya,

Just would like to know what is the best company to go to for Mobile phone recycling as prices varies a lot.
    Thanks

why not have a look yourself......
there are lots of links on this site if you actually look around:rolleyes:
  • Sent in a Nokia e61 in good condition in mid-January, was quoted £34, the phone shows as 'accepted' in my account - but at the time of writing have received neither payment or reply to my query. Probably best avoided...

EDIT: 18/02/09 This did get sorted on 2nd contact - they said they hadn't got my first message (despite the fact that it was via their website) but once they got the registered post information they did deal with this quickly and efficiently.
  • :T Have recently sold 3 mobiles to cashinmyfone, very efficient service. My DS used one for work so it was full of dust and the back wouldn't stay on and he still got £3.76 + £5 quidco(now only £4),better than lying in a drawer, the money's going to his board & lodgings!! It was only about a week for each phone,I sent them seperately cos I wasn't sure if quidco paid per phone or per transaction, better to have £15 than £5 -recorded delivery charge(72p) each.
