Hi, is anyone with Flo-Gas & had an increase that is on a fixed rate. I renewed with Flo-gas & have a fixed rate for another 14 months & i am a little worried they wont stick to it & give every excuse to increase the bill.

Nope, not yet anyway. Been with them for about 3.5 years (2nd contract runs out in new year) and always stuck to contract mainly (see below). They did increase in 2nd year up to max of additional 3p per litre which was in the terms and the standing charge was increased by a minimal amount. Still paying only 38 ppl until January when I'm dreading renewing, to be honest would happily take anything in the 50-60 ppl bracket.

I am on a fixed price with Calor with a price of 43.5 p per litre. the contract runs until 31 Jan 2023 yet they are now increasing the price to 69p per litre.

Can they do this whilst in a contract?

I have been on the phone now for almost 1 hour and they just keep saying your call is important to us etc etc.
Waste of time emailing as they send an automated reply that they will reply within two days but they never do!

Yes, I've had the same problem as well - can't get through. If you get an answer then let us know. I am hoping this is a standard letter they have sent out to everyone and doesn't apply if you are locked into a fixed term contract.

If your contract ends in Jan 2023 then you're presumably in your second year - Calor contracts generally run for two years and have a fixed price for the first year only; they can then vary the price in the second year - if they increase by more than 3.5p/qtr (from memory - haven't checked the details) you are free of the contract and can switch to another supplier. Guessing they are expecting other suppliers to be unwilling to take on new customers/relying on general reluctance of most customers to go through uncertainty of switching... BTW I also had a letter with a 12p increase in price a couple of days ago...(also coming towards end of 2nd year of contract).

Has anyone renewed a fixed contract lately? My 2 year fix at 29p/l ends at the end of this month and I doubt the price will be going down :#
Just had a renewal letter from Flogas - 75ppl (reduced to 68ppl if I sign-up now) with a £75 delivery charge.

My current contract is 35ppl + standing charge and no delivery charge.

    This industry seriously needs regulation...

Will be contacting lpgsave as I've previously done for the last two renewals to see what they come up with.

I was quoted 82p fixed for 12 months, free delivery a month ago. Trying to switch but problems with tank certificates. Try other suppliers. Best alternative was 51p fixed for 2 years. All +VAT. Agree Bulk LPG and Heating Oil need regulating.

  • Carver Gases are offering a variable price contract for LPG. It is a 28 day rolling contract rather than the 2 year contract most other companies tie you in to.  I have found that this keeps their prices honest as they know if they put their prices up you are free to switch to another supplier almost immediately.

Just had a quote from LPG Save for surprise - Flogas at a considerable discount from their renewal letter.

Flogas - 51ppl fixed for 1 year with year 2 limited to a maximum increase of 5ppl, no delivery charges and £60 tank rental charge

Midlands LPG (via LPG Compare) - 43ppl fixed for 1 year, £50 tank rental (no terms disclosed as to what happens in year 2)
Avanti 1yr fix (via LPG Compare) - 49ppl fixed for 1 year, £66 tank rental (again no terms about year 2)
Avanti 2yr fix (via LPG Compare) - 51ppl fixed for 2 years, £66 tank rental

Considering I'm with Flogas currently I think the best choice would be to stick with them, I've been on a 35ppl contract with them since 2020 and I've had no price increases even though they had room to do so in year 2.

Last time I contacted Carver Gases they said I was out of the area, will try them again though as a 28-day contract sounds good.

All reasonable quotes, if you could get 2 and 3 to give you the year 2 options (or are they just literally 1-year contracts?) then you could save a bit. However, if your happy with Flogas and have had no issues with supply etc then stick with them. My contract expires in January and would be happy with any of them to be fair.

This is what frustrates me about these LPG and Heating Oil suppliers!

I recognise the Avanti offers. 2 year fix seems excellent.

Flogas offered me a reduced rate of 60p fixed for 1 year and uncapped for Year 2 just today.

My problem is that I don't know if my contract with Calor still stands after they promised a max price and then increased it thus giving me right to look elsewhere?

I can find no way of contacting them to enquire about my account, my emails are ignored and getting to them by phone is impossible, I listened to their crappy music for 2 hours with them telling me my call was important then I pressed 1 and they promised a call back same day but of course 2 days later they have not.
