  • Is the Avanti £35 delivery charge per delivery still in place?

There is no mention of delivery charge on my quote.  51ppl plus VAT,   £66per annum rental,   "No hidden extras" in bold

The charge  has been in place these last few months, you will see it mentioned here a few times.

    20/7/22 Page 388 for the 1st time I think.

Then mentioned with a quote similar to yours 31/7

Avanti quoted 48p per litre fixed for 2 years, but £35 delivery charge. Tank rental £110 for underground tank. To sweeten deal would give £100 gas free.
  • For anyone who missed it, in Martin Lewis’ comments on the Government’s energy price cap plans (I’m not allowed to post a link), he said:

For those on LPG and heating oil, I'm told there will be discretionary payments to help them too (awaiting details).

The topic is being discussed in a thread in the LPG, heating oil, solid & other fuels forum (again no link allowed).

Calor did ring to haggle after they got transfer notice from Avanti.   They came down from original 66p variable to match the 51p offer but only fixed for one year.. then 3p extra per quarter for year 2.    Calor sales person could not offer a 2 year fix.

I hate all this secret squirrel haggling rubbish.  These companies should publish prices.

I've just had a letter from Calor saying ppl going up from 54.9 to 66.9 from 26th Sept, which is just shy of 22% increase (quoting "inflation causing delivery costs to rise" as reason).

I wonder if this increase is in response to word about this possible discretionary fund in October.

I presume from this that you are not in a fixed contract with them. Do you just have deliveries as and when required and pay the going rate at the time, or are they trying to change your contract price?

As and when. I only signed up 3 weeks ago - moved into a house with LPG so all quite new to me. But from the contract, I know I can cancel if they increase price by more than 3.5p in 3 months, so this hits that target.
  • Went through the whole rigmarole of getting alternative quotes and presenting these to current supplier Calor less than a month ago.  Signed up for 51p/l which was pretty much best going.  They've just hit me with a 12p/l rise from next week.  Back to the drawing board.
  • Been with Calor for 18 months and they’ve broken their ‘fixed’ price twice now (as said above had a letter stating another 12p from Sept 22) - they don’t seem to care at all and their response is ‘go elsewhere’. For those in the NW I had a quote from ExtraGas today for 45p fixed for 12m so I’ll be swapping to them and terminating calor.
