Bulk LPG - Cheapest suppliers / supply route?

The tank is next to the driveway where we turn cars round to exit going forward. The engineer suggested big pieces of stone or anything that would stop an unsuspecting driver. Cars at this point would be just edging round so no great speeds involved. I bought some wooden posts with reflective markers on them and I push them into the ground. They can be removed for mowing the grass round the tank.pinkteapot said:
Is your tank lid near your drive or a road then?Badger04 said:Back on tanks. I wanted to check situation about safety with my underground tank. Rang flogas and they sent out an engineer to check. He did a full inspection and we agreed to put in posts to stop possibility of driving over tank. This is really important as underground tank covers will not take the weight of a car on them and you could have a serious uncontrollable release if the top of the tank broke.
We're in a 2019 new-build. Calor have supplied us since the house was built. We tried to switch to Flogas last year but they wouldn't accept us because the tank lid is in grass next to the drive.
What sort of posts have you installed?
There are pictures on some websites of full crash barriers in place , but I think this is more for industrial settings.
as I said before, I would ask for an engineer to call so you can discuss what is needed.
Another idea for you would be to contact Calor about whether your tank met the latest requirements. They, or your builder, should not have installed the tank in a spot which does not meet the new rules. If calor did install it, they should agree to move it to a compliant spot. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on and good luck!0 -
See my renewal quotes 31 July on this site.JerryW said:Has anyone renewed a fixed contract lately? My 2 year fix at 29p/l ends at the end of this month and I doubt the price will be going down
In order to get movement you need to get quotes from other suppliers and be prepared to move suppliers. Once your supplier gets the notice to move they normally react, but not before.
I have in the past moved supplier, it’s painless and saved me a lot of money.0 -
So many gas company's must talk to each other as many prices are the same & unless your using lots of gas because of business, most quote will be the same. But watch out for tank charges, i have known these to be £130.00 per year different between the companies. Don't like the company, but Flo-gas are fare.mcmullank said:

With the potential/likely announcement of a 'price cap freeze' on energy prices, by the new PM, anyone know how this would affect the millions of households who are not on mains gas (ie bulk LPG or OIL). Are the suppliers of these bulk delivery fuels tied in to the price caps in any way. If not it could mean that millions will not be getting any government assistance with their bills.
I understand that they would through their electricity bills but not for their boiler fuels. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks0 -
Just as shear luck my gas & electric contracts finished around 6 months ago with EON for electric & Flo-gas for LPG "This was just before the Ukraine problems. & got a fixed 22p on lecy & 40p an gas. Up to now, they have both stuck by it. We will see.kassy64 said:With the potential/likely announcement of a 'price cap freeze' on energy prices, by the new PM, anyone know how this would affect the millions of households who are not on mains gas (ie bulk LPG or OIL). Anyone know if we as bulk lpg/oil customers will have a benefit should the new PM freeze the price cap on energy bills, as expected in the coming days?0

Lpgcompare have got me a quote 51ppl fixed for 2 years with Avantigas, with £100 gas credit. Calor renewal is for 66.5ppl. Both £60pa rental. I shall go back to Calor and see if they will match Avanti .Stubloke said:My bulk Calor contract ends in September. I am on 39.5ppl plus vat now. What price is anyone getting now with the energy kerfuffle ? ( South coast)0 -
51ppl is pretty good I reckon in current climate of uncertainty!
I would gladly renew at that cost but can’t as I’m in contract until mid January0 -
Avantigas sent the forms so the switching process has started. Reviews of Avanti from last winter about long delivery delays do not bode well. I hope I am doing the right thing.kassy64 said:51ppl is pretty good I reckon in current climate of uncertainty!
