Is anyone here with Calor Gas or Callow Gas for their LPG? if so are you in year 1 or 2 of your contract and what price increases have you had? Has this breached the cap that was given to you when you took out the contract? and lastly how would you rate the customer service?

I'm just coming up to the end of my 2yr contract with Calor. Apart from the terrible handling of the LPG shortage earlier this year, I have had limited need of Calor's customer service but when I have had to phoned them they've been okay. The price increase 12 months ago was the full cap, at 3.5ppl, but nothing further. I'd be happy to stay with them if they would offer a reasonable contract (currently they're only offering fixed for the next 6 months...)

I am trying to find a new supplier (central Scotland), and I'm not finding any sensible deals with a 2nd year cap. The best is Avanti's 3ppl cap per 6 month, but only for operational costs. Anyone having better luck?

I am also in Central Scotland and been with Avanti for about 5 years. I have just ended my first 12 months of my current contract and they are proposing a rise of over 15p/l for the second year. This is an increase of over 50% which I am trying to negotiate. Please tyread very warely and good luck.

Woldlink Pricing for November 2018 confirmed at 34.66ppl +5% VAT, a slight reduction on October's 34.97ppl
  • :oAvanti supplied a link to Brent Crude oil prices which is the index they are using to justify their horrendous price increase. The price peaked in October at roughly $88 and has fell ever since currently standing at roughly $66. This represents an increase of approximately 14% over the price 1 year ago.
It's a week since I complained formally and still await a reply.

I would be interested in joining a petition on this debacle but feel that the forum may not be the way forward unless there is support from MSE. However at the moment I have no bright ideas about how to proceed.:o
  • Hi, could someone please supply me with a link to the platts index for the current lpg prices, or alternatively supply me with the current price. TIA
  • There's no link or online availability for the platts pricing index. The current average wholesale cost including other overall costs is about 21ppl

Thank you very much, bit confused now though , if no links etc how do I / you find out the price?

It would be great know the wholesale price of LPG twelve months ago.

Avanti are trying to force a 15ppl gas price rise to me and I’m fighting it (I have a 3ppl cap in my second year). Justifying their price rise with reference to the annual oil price rise is irrelevant and outside the terms of my contract.

Any information you can provide of the wholesale LPG price rise in the last twelve months would be most helpful.
  • I know the price as I have contacts in the industry. It would never be published like with any industry. If you need more assistance let me know

    Many thanks, will do :)

The previous owner might have had a contract with Calor - but you don't. You can get quotes from everybody that supplies your area, and can sign up with whoever you please.
