Hi
I have just moved into a new estate and it’s a metered estate with Calor.
I received a contract pack today. They say that I have a choice or signing a two year contract and I don’t need to sign the agreement. It says my current gas price is 34.50p per litre and my daily standing charge will be 16.44p per day.
Is this a reasonable price and will this be my contract price or do I need to negotiate a deal? I have done some reading of this thread but i wouldn’t if this contract is negotiable.
Many thanks0 -

I'm not on one myself. if it is a metered estate does that mean you don't have a tank?
If you have a tank on your premises you are in the same position as anyone else: you can shop around, agree and sign your own contract.
However you might find that whoever is actually negotiating the metered price - and someone must be - can get a better deal because of the size of the contract. If they know their business.
34.5p/l is not a bad price. I agreed 32p two months ago.
Also be aware contracts are for 2 years minimum and it is highly unlikely that the price will be fixed for 2 years. Read all paperwork with care!If what I said helped you, please "Thank" the relevant post. It cheers me up somewhat..0 -

I do like how they write the letter on the same date as the price is increased, preventing any orders being made at the original price.
Thanks Avanti.
Just for that I shall be leaving your custom as soon as possible.
Hi just wondering how you got on, we are with avanti and received a letter after year 1 with them that gas price will rise to 41 p per litre, 11 p increase I asked about the cap but she said it was a cap on services but I thought at time of signing up it was on the price per litre what are the services as I was ready to say that they have broken the contract by the increase and I'm free to leave, where do I go from here any suggestions please0 -
Thanks, it’s a tank shared by all the residents on the estate. I am going to contact Calor and run through a list of questions0

Normally, on a communal tank, each property is metered with a gas meter that measures in cubic metres. It is quite unusual for the supplier to be quoting in ppl prices, unless they are converting the cu.m value back to the liquid price.0 -
I have just spoken to Calor to ask what the benefits are for signing a contract. They said the price will be the same and it’s a matter for me. Not all that helpful0

Me, I would investigate who is negotiating and dealing with Calor. There must be a management company or a central point of contact of some sort. As they have the tank and you don't, you are totally dependent on them; so make friends or plan to replace them ..If what I said helped you, please "Thank" the relevant post. I agree and thanks, i plan to investigate and I expected to be stuck with Calor anyhow, but I just don’t understand what the benefit of the contract is. There is a management company. The current quoted price seems reasonable from research.
I plan on discussing with neighbours, more out of interest to see if they have signed the contract and seek their views0 -
Hi
we changed from Calor to Flogas last January for our bulk lpg (2000l u/g tank) because I was not happy with previous price hikes during contract. The 1st year Flogas fixed price is 33ppl +vat and standing charge £84pa on a 2 year contract.
So today we received our first Flogas letter informing us of a price rise in January when our fixed price ends. The new price will be 45.22ppl. No mention of VAT which I assume is in addition.
How competitive is this new price? I can't get out of the contract, but is it worth haggling?
thanks
