Pension query
Having watched Martin's recent ITV show regarding pensions and then spending tome on MSE website, I understood the full weekly pension anybody could get is £221.20. I'm just wondering if anybody knows why mine says £234.40 per week?

Mid-40s and only have 8 years; missing years not all showing up as payable
I only have 8 years towards the state pension, all before 2016. My forecast is £86.43 a week :( . My statement says I can now pay 2008-2009, 2009-2010, and 2013-2014. The amounts are £776, £824 and £824. However I also haven’t paid for the following years, and it doesn’t currently give me the option to pay them. I have…

HMRC NI contribution delays
I submitted form CF83 by mail to HMRC, wanting to make NI contributions for years missed while working overseas. Having checked online since, they say that I have to wait for a reply until early 2026! A one year delay in processing the forms! Has anyone else got experience of this please? Will I have missed the April 25…

HMRC advice differs from what's online
I recieved an email from HMRC yesterday saying that I could top up by paying £824 for two years, one being 2006/7. I know that I arrived in the UK in June of 2006 and started work in September so I must have paid a partial year. However, when I checked online 2006 is not even listed. How am I supposed to find out how much…

Retired 10 years early but gov.uk shows forecast of full State Pension amount.
I took early retirement after 30 years of teaching. I checked the SP Forecast on the gov.uk website yesterday and it says, in 2031, I’ll receive the full SP amount of £221.20. Wow! … I thought. However, the site goes on to say … “Estimate based on your National Insurance record up to 5 April 2024 is £211 a week. Forecast…

Missing Years - Child Beneft to "wrong" partner - NI credits wasted - why no automatic reallocation?
I have just read the latest MSE email reminding again about the looming 5. April 2025 Voluntary NI contribution deadline to take advantage of the doubled-down two year time period extension ... I am gob-smacked to learn that HMRC are now prepared to backdate reallocation of Child Benefit from one partner to another so that…

Confusing pension forecast compared to NI Gaps
Apologies if I’ve missed this on another thread. If so please point me there. My NI record has two incomplete years with notes attached telling me how much I need to pay to complete them. However, my pension forecast gives me a weekly amount (to be claimed in 2034) and states that I can’t do anything to improve this…

Contribution amount
I’ll be retiring in May and taking my DB pension. I’m aware I can only contribute £2880 once retired to my SIPP. However I would like to add to SIPP in my final months working. I earn £34k (part time worker). I currently only pay in £100 a month but I believe I can pay in up to my earnings in a financial year. Is that…

Buying years of NI contributions.
I am confused, I opted out of SERPS from 1987 til it closed which I think was 2012. With MSE telling people you could buy more credit for missing years I thought I'd check. It seems I only have 7 months of missing contributions since I started work in 1979 and also states I will get a full pension. (Gov gateway website) Am…

NI Contributions/Pension Top Up
Good afternoon all I am hoping for some advice & perhaps solving a mystery! My Wife was surprisingly awarded a State Pension of £556.00 a month when she reached 65 in 2021. I was awarded a full State Pension in 2024. I am saying "surprisingly" as she has not worked since 1978. She started work in 1973 & left in 1978 to…

Missing National Insurance Year when I got married
I worked full time as a teacher from 1998 - 2010. All the years show full National Insurance contributions, except 2003 / 2004. It happens to be the year when I got married, and changed my name, so I can only assume that is the cause of the error. Nothing else changed, and I worked the full year. It is too far back to pay…

Hi All, Like many I'm wondering if I should be paying off missing NI contribution years to help my state pension. The estimate based on my NI record up to April 5th 2022 is £110.46. The forecast if I continue to contribute another 15 years before 5 April 2041 is the max £185.15. I will reach state pension age in Feb 2042…

I have checked by NI contributions on line and want to pay for a year I missed in 2015-2016. It will allow me to stop work and year earlier and know my contributions are up to date. Pension Forecast - "we are checking this year" and credits whilst working at school
Like many other people I went back and checked my pension forecast. Finally got in today and, months after last checking, it still says this on two post-2006 entries: It has said this for well over a year now, is it something I should all them about? Or will it update eventually? I will pay the voluntary contribution…

Missing NI credits Incapacity benefit & esa
I checked my NI record earlier today. (Along with a couple million others lol) I’ve got many missing years. (Voluntary payments would amount to about £15k!) These date from what I can work out from when I was moved from incapacity benefit to ESA, From when I was moved to esa no NI credits have been done. Does anyone have…
