National Insurance Contributions

I have 39 full years contribution yet I am being told by the calculator that I am still 5-6 years off a full pension and have to pay around £4900 to get a full pension, any idea why this may be the case..?

Probably because you were contacted out at some point. Is there a COPE amount?

I've just turned 66 and needed 48 years of NI to get the full SP.

If your NI record started pre 2016 then chances are you were contracted out at some point. How many years do you have until state retirement age and are you still paying NI?
