Gym won't allow me to cancel membership, unhappy with services
Signed up to a local gym for 12 months, it's the most expensive gym in the area at £45 per month and offered a sauna, steam room facilities. The main reason for joining was the promise of a new gym opening in the franchise. Sauna etc is no longer available for use due to covid, yet the gym owner has increased the price…

Skipping
I just wanted to post about an exercise I've been doing through lockdown that's very underrated - skipping. I'm a 57 year old bloke, average height and weight, with visions of floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee. Some hope! After a year of skipping, I'm much better at it and lighter on my feet (and faster)…

Recommendations for a personal protection alarm please
A spate of flashers and indecent assaults mean a female relative would like some sort of rape alarm or the like. Please recommend something that's reliable, handy to get at and small enough to walk or run with. Thanks in advance

I asked my tennis club if, given the situation with Covid-19 and the courts being closed it might be possible to either have a partial refund or have my membership term extended to make up for the time when it hasn't been possible to play. They replied saying "The committee has yet to make a decision with regards to the…

Reduce noise for my home workouts
Hey there! I moved house a few months ago and love the property, it's great. However, my neighbours (to whom my house is attached) are very noise sensitive. Whilst I can barely hear them, one of them works nights, so sleeps during the day. I try to be a very considerate neighbour, I avoid talking loudly, or slamming doors.…

Is this workout routine any good?
Hi, I've started going back to the gym after many months due to lockdown. Trying to get the belly and moobs off. One day, I will lift weights for my arms and shoulders (machine weights…

Good fitness tracker for under £150 recommendations please
My 3 year old Garmin Vivofit 3 has bitten the dust. It keeps resetting itself and the button to scroll through the displays has got stuck. What I loved about the GV3 was it ran on a button battery which was brilliant as only required changing 10-12 months. I am now probably have to resort to one with that needs charging up…

Had a fitbit, it's crap: Syncs to my phone ok as app confirms, trying to connect GPS, doesn't work (GPS on for phone and fitbit), keeps saying launch app or not found. Now smashed and in bin. Any alternatives? Must have GPS and a countdown timer - that buzzes so I know when to start walking/running.

Running only 4 miles a week - do I need to bother with expensive running shoes?
Planning to start doing a 2 mile run on pavement twice a week, started last week and can do it in about 20 mins (I know, poor, hoping to get to 16 mins and will be satisfied with that). Finding my sturdy hiking trainers to be more comfortable than my cheap Nike running shoes which left me with sore ankles the next day.…

Walking boots - leather vs fabric
Hi guys, I’m looking to buy some walking boots and can’t decide on whether to get fabric or leather? I’d preferably want some that are waterproof-ish, and I would be looking to do most of my walking / hiking during summer (or just when it’s not absolutely pouring down in rain) Can you guys recommend any and if so why?…
