Hi ,does anyone know about getting a refund on your golf membership, the club that I play at is not a members club as such and we are not been offered a refund on monies paid from last year. Due to COVID apparently. Thanks

When you say "not a members club as such" what is its structure? Is it a profit making commercial business?

Also, what is the normal policy if the course is closed, perhaps because it is covered in snow for a couple of weeks? Would you expect a refund of two weeks' subscription in those circumstances?
  • The club is a CSCA renting from  owners, so not for profit , I would not expect it to snow for 4mths otherwise I would take up ICEHOLE fishing, did I spell that right!! Thanks

This is the latest thread on what some clubs are doing - rebate, extending membership year, bar credit, nothing!
Looks like it very much depends on the club. I'm not sure though legally whether you could force a repayment or not which is probably more what you are after.
  • Thanks, no not really about money as such, but rejoining last year when the club was closed and supporting the club . The club done very well when it opened again which is great, if it offered something, but nothing feels like a rip off, which is why I would like to know legally where I stand . I won’t be rejoining and don’t like the thought that someone who is worth millions keeping money I worked hard for .

Can you not still play golf even if the clubhouse etc. is shut?
  • You can , but it’s all closed, I just need to know if it’s in breach of consumer law, that’s all ..thanks

Lennyoo7, that golf club is definitely closed, I think. So there are no sense for making any rush in payments for that membership. Talking of which, do you train playing golf by your own? I'm making plans for getting some skills of it, and found this website ( url: https://delmarlifestylepubs.com/ ), where I could find detailed review on the program called Monster Golf Swing. What do you think about it?
