Hi! I have a First Direct Regular saver that will mature in January, currently just under £3k in it. I've not switched current accounts for ages so looking at switching to Club Lloyds, but do I need to wait until the regular saver matures? If I switch before would it close the savings account or am I still eligible on the…

Monmouth Building Society is so slow
Like millions of others I applied via my computer for their new regular saver a/c yesterday. Today they told me it would be faster if I downloaded their app and applied that way. I've been stuck on a page saying they're "currently processing your application" for 6 minutes now and presume it will be a long long time before…

Advice on holding Funds in a GIA (ETF vs OEIC, and Accumulation vs Income)
Hello folks, I would greatly appreciate any advice that some of you might be kind enough to share. I recently inherited £100,000 from a relative who very sadly passed away. I have maxed out both my ISA and SIPP contributions for this year, but I want to get this money working for me in a Fund right away. Over the coming…

Why would anyone invest in VWRP over SPDR MSCI ACWI UCITS ETF
I am deciding in which global etf to invest in. VWRP has a 0.22% and also charges a transaction cost while SPDR MSCI ACWI UCITS ETF charges 0.12% OCR. Is this something that is too good to be true? Am I better off going into a more trusted and household name in vanguard. Why does SPDR MSCI ACWI UCITS ETF cost more?

Covered call options
I came across Schroder Income Maximiser OEIC while planning a retirement income portfolio. It uses covered call options, which the KIID describes by "To seek to enhance the yield, the investment manager selectively sells short dated call options over individual securities, portfolios of securities or indices held by the…

Offshore bond inherited from father - questions about tax, gifting etc.
Hi, My dad died earlier this year and left his estate to me and my sister 50/50. We're both executors and have probate. His estate was below the IHT threshold (with spousal exemption with my mum who died a few years ago) and consists of his house which is about to be sold, some savings and a cash ISA. All quite…

Shares in 90s Privatised Public Utilities etc
Going through my father’s paperwork after his recent passing and I’ve discovered a number of share certificates for the public services privatised by the Conservative government in the 1990s. CAMBRIDGE EXTRA REWARD MATURITY - Extra interest ?
y account matured today , new one opened as directed today and balance sent to my current account which probably won't arrive until tomorrow. However I notice my new RS had an extra 20p put in which I think must be extra interest earned for a day on the electronic payment sent today until I receive the balance tomorrow.

The power of compounding
Most people know the power of compounding but I've come across a great demonstration of it. Take a look at the prices of the Accumulation and Income versions of this equity income fund. The Acc. fund grew by c.114% over five years while the Inc. fund grew c.64%. The difference is 50%, so you might think that translates…

Capital losses (CVA) on Debenture held in Abundance Investments
I'd just like to run this past the helpful people here. I received a very small final consideration as part of the…
