National express coach drivers are rude and arrogant
A number of coach drivers are very rude and arrogant in this company. One shouted at me today to stop using my mobile phone. I told him to read the conditions of carriage that clearly state that phone usage is allowed on coaches, but passengers are reminded to keep it to a minimum and not annoy other passengers. I made a 4…

Train operator dispute
I am currently in a dispute with Arriva Trains Wales over delay compensation. On the 1st July i and my brother were travelling to Cardiff which was meant to be a direct service from Llandudno Junction to Cardiff Central, shortly before the train was due to arrive in Llandudno Junction the train showed as being 35 minutes…

Chris Boardman's mother killed while cycling
This is very sad news: https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/jul/17/chris-boardman-mother-killed-in-cycling-accident The circumstances aren't known to the public at the moment but I hope they track down the driver, that must make it even worse that at the moment it appears like a hit and run. I knew a bit about Chris…

Bike Carrier
Hi all, Looking for recommendations please on an easy to fit, good value bike rack. It needs to carry two kids bikes (which will get bigger over time) and preferably rear mounted as I'm on my own with the kids and I think this will be easier / safer for me to manage. I have a Laguna hatchback if it helps. Thank you!

Sanding disc brake rotors -- terrible squeal?!
My mountain bike is about 5 years old, so this time when I bled the brakes and replaced the pads, I lightly sanded the rear disc rotor. Now, whenever I touch the brakes, the whole frame vibrates, emitting a loud screech! The brakes work fine, but... it sounds like I'm using an air horn every time I brake! Have I been too…

New York Taxi scam
Hello. I am just putting the feelers out there. Has anyone had an email from a New York based Taxi company called Gett demanding they log in to their account and settle a bill. Never even been to NY so am sure it's a scam. Just wondering if anyone has come across this before.

Unable to collect train tickets - refund?
Hello, I booked train tickets on the South West Trains website on Friday 1st July. I opted to collect my tickets from a machine at the station, so they give you a code used to collect the tickets (I've done it before). I paid at the time and the payment has been taken. But on arrival at the station when using the machine…

Extra long bike axle/skewer...?
I'm looking for an extra-long rear axle/skewer for my mountain bike. But I'm having difficulty finding one that would be suitable. I need a long one to accommodate the rack that mounts through the rear axle. I was using the extra-long Halo ones (below), which are just long enough, but the end of the rack mount bent inwards…

Should I align a brand new gear hanger?
I replaced the rear mech gear hanger on my mountain bike today. Whenever I've done this, the brand new one doesn't seem to be properly aligned when I check with a hanger alignment tool. It's not out by much... It's angled inwards at the base by maybe 5 to 10mm. I was just wondering... is this normal? Shouldn't new hangers…

Are modern bikes significantly better than they were 30 years ago?
I've got a 30 year old bike I inherited. It was a decent one at the time (I think), a Ken Bird hand built frame. It looks very dated compared to modern ones now though. I'm training for a long ride in September. If I splashed out on a new bike, would it make that much difference (as in use less energy to ride)?

Is it worth buying an electric bike?
Hi guys I'm wondering if anyone owns an electric bike or uses one to cycle to work? I really want to start cycling to work instead of driving for multiple reasons, the main ones are to save money and become healthier, but I'm wondering if anyone thinks electric bikes are worth it? the route to my workplace is quite hilly…

Late Trains
Hi About 11 months ago I caught a train from Harrogate to Chinley with two changes - 3 rail operators were involved. I was over an hour late, my cost being £22.80. I sent off my tickets to Northern Rail who sent them on to South West trains. They lost them. Ive now been told my complaint is invalid as more than six months…

Booking bikes on advance train tickets
I booked a train ticket online with EMT but couldn't book my bike at the same time because the offices where you do so (by phone) were closed. The following day I was informed no spaces were available on that train, so I didn't make the journey and lost the money on it. Does any site offer you the facility to book the bike…

Trainline not fully refunding Scotrail Strike
I thought it worth posting this, so that others aren't short-changed when getting a supposed FULL refund from The Trainline: A couple of months ago I had booked tickets with The Trainline in Scotland. A few weeks later, they emailed me about possible service disruption due to Scotrail strikes. It turned out that both…

Sealed gear cable housing...?
I have a mountain bike with partially exposed gear cables running along the top-tube. I find that the gears typically shift well (as everything is well-maintained), but every so often I wash the bike and presumably get some grit or water into the gear housing, causing shifting problems. I'm just about to upgrade the rear…
