Train from Manchester to Whitby, any tips etc?

Hi

Has any one any tips etc to for the cheapest way for a family of four (two adults and two children) to travel from Manchester to Whitby, not going till May next year so plenty of time to look for prices etc

cheaper tickets will not be available until about 12 weeks before your date of travel. Look into getting a family rail card (cost about £30 giving you 1/3 of adult fares and reduction for child fares.)


Depending on your situation you may want to travel Manchester-Scarborough on the train and Scarborough-Whitby on the bus.

Manchester-Scarborough followed by bus to Whitby would be a better choice. There are direct trains from Piccadilly & Oxford Road
