Doggy day care in the car?
Dog sitting parent is going away for a week. She did tell me and I promptly forgot. This means I have booked in work commitments which make dropping Gitdog off at the kennels each day difficult as the pick up and drop off times are outside their usual times. So my cunning plan is to take him to work with me. He'll have to…

New puppy advice with an older dog
Firstly Lola the 4 month old Giant Schnauzer is at puppy class, and I'll ask the question there as well, but thought I'd ask the good pet people on MSE. Besides Lola, is a 15 year old terrier type who after a bad start in life, keeps much to herself and away from the rest of us. Then there is Heidi, 6, who is at the bottom…

Time to say goodbye?
Alfie is coming 12. He's blind and deaf now, has hypothyroidism, very shaky on his legs and now sleeps for around 20 hours a day Whilst he still gets excited about a walk, he doesn't make it far, perhaps a hundred metres on a good day I noticed there the other day he was very hesitant over the two very shallow back door…

Kitten on work top - hot hob!
We adopted two kittens at the weekend (love them to bits already). However one of them decided last night that he was getting on top of the work top. Unfortunately we'd been using the hob. I appreciate that keeping them off the worktop/table is hard (our living space is open plan) and I can accept that they'll go on there…

I've recently read online that this can be a good treatment for cats and dogs to aid…

Kitten help
Hi , I'm wondering what flea treatment to use, and where do you buy from please? He is due next week , Cpl used stronghold which I gather is prescription only, they also used panacur wormer. Which I was told doesn't need doing till he goes out now, does that hold true even if he's raw fed? I've seen advantage flea on Vet…

Feeding kitten
New kitten was given James Well beloved dry food and felix wet, whilst in the foster carers at cp, we were told he prefers dry, I have kept to same foods but he definitely only eats the dry. I have also tried James wellbeloved wet sachets as they came free with the dry food . I know it's advised to feed wet to boys and am…

PDSA and ongoing illness
I'm hoping somebody out there can offer me some advice. I have just recently qualified for various benefits which allow me access to PDSA treatment with the local vet. Unfortunately, my dog has had a skin problem for the past month or so and after some very expensive treatment from another vet (antibiotics and anti…

Cat bad behaviour (wanting food)
We have a five year old male cat and in the last year he's became very, very vocal with when he wants feeding. It's got to the point where it's effecting our sleep. This morning at 4.10am he decided he was hungry and then meowed over and over again outside the bedroom door. He used to be very well behaved but this…

Cats acting wierder than usual!
My 8 year old boycat is acting even crazier than usual but I think my vet will just think I'm crazy if I tell him that he's started chasing his own tail, being very vocal and, lastly, making leurve to my furry sofa cushions:(:( What IS his problem?

Thundershirt for dogs scared of fireworks
Does anyone use these? My dog is petrified of fireworks, but I've looked up the cost for this coat and it's £35 which is fine if it actually works. Just looks like an ordinary coat to me. The pills don't seem to have any effect on my dog.

Microchip cat flap - large cats
I will be moving in a few weeks time to a place with own garden (wohoooooo :) ) so started looking at organising in/out access for my 4 boys and not allowing strange cats to come in. I was looking at microchip cat flaps (my boys never had collars and would either lose those or get tangled somewhere) but my boys are big and…

Snoring cat
My beautiful Sansa is 15 years old soon. She's happy and healthy, always hungry, plays like a kitten, comes and goes as she pleases and seems fine. But recently she has started snoring, though it sounds more like wheezing. Do cats snore as they get older or could there be an underlying problem? She doesn't like being in…

It's law to post puppy pics, isn't it?
Meet Lola*, 16 week old Giant Schnauzer. I've waited around 20 years to get one. She's doing really well, accepting Ruby as the main dog, she's the black mini schnauzer in the second pic. The other two are finding her a bit boisterous, but things are settling down as she finds out what is expected of her. * I think the…

Green water -to clear pond water - how?
What way do have of getting rid of 'green water' in your pond? I used to have a bioforce 800 filter, and as soon as the waterfall flow lessened - I knew it was time to clean it out. Since, I invested in a Revolution filter to flow is that much better, and besides the pond was cleaned in February so the muck amount is…

Introducing Whisky & Ginny (kittens are here!)
Thank you all for the vet/carrier advice last week - here are some pictures of the new arrivals as a thank you  Whisky is the all black kitty - she loves her food, sleeping nuzzled in to one of us, and digging (she keeps trying to bury her food by scratching after she's done). She's already got daddy wound around her…
