Dog Steps

My staff is finding it hard to get on the sofa these days. I've looked on the net and have found steps that means she won't have to jump on the sofa.

Just wondered if anyone else had used these and if they are easy for the dog to get their head around what they are supposed to do and easy for the dog to use?

Yes I used a step (actually designed for little boys to stand at the loo! Got it from IKEA) for my old girl to get on the sofa.

She learnt to use it very quickly, now and again I'd have to remind her :)
  • A friend of ours has a dog who is finding it hard to get into the car.

They've found a set of caravan steps useful (and cheaper!) than 'doggy' steps.

Would one of those steps that are sold for us shorties to reach the top of cupboards be suitable?

I have old fashioned foot-stools by the couches and my bed for the 13 year old Jack Russell to help him out. Cost £5-10 from antiques warehouse. Being a little jack he does still have to jump a bit to get on the footstool and then on to the couch/bed but he can cope with that fine whereas he couldn't jump on to the couch in one leap.

Thanks everyone. I hadn't thought of any alternatives. I'll look into them as I'm starting to feel sorry for her (she does have a bed on the floor too though).

If she gets stuck halfway up on the sofa, my daughters can push her up the rest of the way, but she has to wait till a grown up around to actually pick her up. Sometimes I think she does it cos she's lazy and knows I'll do it! :rotfl:
