Fussy cats?

Ok.. where to start? I have seven cats. Two are newbies in our household and are eating and settling well. Since they arrived they have been on a mix of Whiskas pouches and Animonda Carny kitten, Smilla kitten and whiskas biscuits. The Whiskas is just bought when I run out of Zooplus stuff.
The adults, two female and two males are on anything from Bozita, Smilla, Animonda Carny and have had pretty much everything inbetween. However, I recently ran out and had to give them Cosida pouches from Lidl which they wolfed down, whereas they are becoming less fussed with all types of tins I buy; even if it's in gravy they lick off the gravy, and leave the rest. I was of the opinion that if left long enough and they were hungry enough, they would eat it, but alas not.i wanted them to have something nutritionally balanced, but if they are not eating it then it's obviously not providing them with anything as it's ending up in the bin They also like HiLife which is 50p a pouch.
Third male only comes in once in a blue moon, has a few biscuits then leaves.
Would you just give them the Coshida pouches? Or bulk buy cheap ones online if thats what they are preferring or carry on trying to encourage them to eat the good stuff. I need to do an order tonight and am undecided.
They were like this before the kittens arrived, so don't think it's anything to do with them

Cats are fickle creatures. Our pampered (and rather podgy) princess gets Animonda Carny during the day, a Sheba Fresh Choice mini pouch in the evening and a small amount of Porta 21 dry. We went through a variety of brands, textures and flavours before we found ones that she liked. At home she wolfs down her food. When she's at the cattery she generally turns her nose up at the wet food (we provide the cattery with the same food that she gets at home). Go figure!
The neighbour's cats all love Animonda Carny. Most like Sheba. A couple like Felix. One eats anything including whatever wildlife he can get his paws on.
i make sure I vary the flavours ours gets and throw in something different as a treat once in a while (Sheba Pate, cod, salmon, chicken). Tonight we discovered she would be anybody's for a tiny bit of lamb chop. The key is to find a good quality food that the majority really like and offer a few different foods once in a while so they don't get bored.
Oh, and we have a rather special visiting cat that won't eat anything until he's had a few Dreamies (even if he pretends he hasn't eaten for a week when howling at our door!)Norn Iron Club Member 3300 -

Aren't they just :rotfl:. Thanks for your advice. I haven't tried Thrive yet, so i have decided to try that; as heard good reports on it. Yet also heard good reports on Applaws, and mine never took to that  Also got some Kitekat pouches and some James Well beloved ones, as not tried either of those. Fingers crossed they like them as they are making me bankrupt :mad:GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 Jul £134.25/£150 Aug £25.25/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. My wee fella wolfs down lidls pouches
He's not too sure about the biscuit. I put a wee sprinkle on the wet and he eats that and leave some down for him during the day, but usually need to give that a splash of warm water
It's early days but so far he's thriving0 -
Breadcat will not touch lidl, used to like felix as good as it looks but has gone off it now. Currently will eat Harringtons or Iams which are both in gravy which is bizarre as liked jelly before.
Bored with the same food, but at a push will usually eat tinned tuna in spring water0 -
I've got a fussy eater too but I'm one step ahead of her now. When I feed her, I start by putting only a small amount of wet food in her bowl, and if she decides she isn't going to eat it, I seal the rest of the pouch and freeze it and give her something else. Then I'll defrost it a few weeks later and try her with it again by which time she's forgotten she didn't like it. It can be a bit of a nuisance having various half pouches of food cluttering up the freezer but it saves throwing it away.0

General rule with cats re food is something like that
cat seems to like something - human buys a lot of THAT when on sale - cat immediately refuses to eat it - human donates to cat charity
My lot go through stages - been on Animonda for ages then all 4 went completely off and only wanted Felix but the "as good as it looks" one only to refuse that and want Butcher's Classic all the time etc etc
As Butchers go quite bad recently IMHO (lots of jelly and not much chunks in the tins nowadays) - my boys moved on to Waitrose own tinned.
Generally - they like fish flavours and must be in jelly. No "meat" flavours and no gravy. And I have to change every few months anyway ..0 -

I am going to try and pick some of these up again soon. For £1.99 you can't go wrong. Not sure about the nutrition as I said in my original post, but if they are eating then they are eating.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 Jul £134.25/£150 Aug £25.25/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Mine like Felix as Good as it looks. In fact anything that's classed as cheap in comparison to Animonda Carny and the likes. I bet when I start feeding them sachets again they will then want the tins they won't eat now :rotfl:GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 Jul £134.25/£150 Aug £25.25/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. I am lucky in respect that no matter what combination of cats won't eat there's, they always want to eat someone else's; especially if it's and identical make or flavour.I've bought them all microchip bowls, but waiting on last two and need to set up one more. Hopefully then they'll realise they need to eat what's in their OWN bowl. Good idea with the pouches though, didn't even cross my mind to do that.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 Jul £134.25/£150 Aug £25.25/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Aren't they beggars!? Mine like Felix, but haven't bought that for ages. Mine like meat and fish flavours in jelly. They tend to lick off the gravy and leave the meat if I buy that. I will be back to update when current order is delivered. I now have about 40 small tins of Applaws seafood and 20 odd Animonda and Smilla  Hopefully I can palm them off on the kittens, as they often pinch the older cats food if I am not vigilant.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 Jul £134.25/£150 Aug £25.25/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month.
