I am moving in a little bit and will need to look at some suitable flooring for the new place.

In my current one I have laminate/tiles all over and both too slippery for Zara my old girl to get up from lying down so ended up having yoga mats everywhere.

Now, I do not want to have yoga mats or rugs all over just for the dog to be able to get up as she chooses to live in various places so a bit tricky.

I do not want carpets as with 4 cats and a dog in/out - not very practical.

I do not want laminate and/or tiles as too slippery.

Has anyone got vinyl flooring? That keeps n coming in my searches but had no idea it comes in sections and is "clickable" to install like laminate. And good quality vinyl is more expensive than laminate too. Something like that

Any other flooring anyone can suggest? Must be non slippery all over and resistat to dog/cat claws and occasional high heel.

Our vinyl is not at all non slip but Ripple has only known this and makes great use of it for sliding stops/ flying round corners. However, she's so light her back end slides out when she's sitting!

    It is 'luxury' vinyl though.

It may be unfashionable at the moment but cork is wonderful flooring; warm, non slippery, easy to clean and forgiving if you drop anything. (Also very ecologically sound.)

Thanks - Zara is 10 yo and has problems with back legs/spine so getting up from the floor is an issue.

Need to find flooring solution for the whole flat that can accomdate that AND look decent too...

No idea of the cost or where you would buy it but places like hospitals and care homes have non slip floors.

Do a search for non slip flooring such as http://www.altro.co.uk/Safety-flooring

    Can you afford real wood?

My parents have that expensive vinyl stuff, it's no better than laminate for slippiness, although it is waterproof and hard wearing.

Would the cats see the vinyl flooring in your link , to be a huge scratching area? From the description , it sounds as if it's softish underfoot. I bought a textured vinyl type wallpaper once & the cats went mad scratching and stretching up the wall. It was shreddedquite quickly.

I have vinyl "planks" in hall and front room- very like Karndean but called TLC Forest and therefore a bit cheaper. It looks like real wood and has a grained surface. I would say it is farly non-slip except when a water bowl is upset!
I love it and one of my dogs only skids when he is trying to tear round corners like a demented bat! I have had laminate in the past and it is nothing like- that is both slippery and noisy.
Was planning to have sitting room done with this instead of the going tatty carpet this autumn but couldn't arrange it as I wanted to be out of the house and leave the fitters to work. It has to be laid on a screed and is then glued down. Many of the smaller independent shops in our town have this flooring.
