Hello,
Does anyone have any great ideas for a cat proof Christmas Tree?
We need to buy a new one (artifical), but have not done so yet as we have a bonkers cat who tries to kill the tree and eat the ornaments each year.
She is an athletic cat and can climb / reach most things. We did joke about suspending a tree from the lampshade in the middle of the room.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

We have a not-so athletic cat who can easily de-decorate the bottom half of a christmas tree in the flash of a paw should the mood take her!
We put our tree in the conservatory, so we can shut the door on it when we're not in there to supervise, plus all of our decorations are now the unbreakable kind should she sneak in there (Oooh ! it's twinkly, it's glittering, it's moving - I've just GOT to bat it!)
Luckily, she's never tried to actually climb the tree, so I'm afraid I can't help you there other than offer you good luck!0 -

I have a new rescue kitten who seems to be possessed. I don't think I'll chance a tree this year. My other two cats have never even shown the slightest interest in even one bauble. The newbie is a holy terror - but very cute.0

We only recently donated our old (20+ years hand me down) Christmas tree to charity with the view to buying a really nice artificial one.
We adopted two kittens 3.5 weeks ago and based on their reaction to the cactus, spikey-plant and the artificial tree branch samples I don't think we'll be putting a tree up this year :rotfl:0 -
I can now see an image in my head of the cat being flown around the room as the tree pops0 -
I think something like this here would be the only truly cat proof Christmas tree0
