Holiday in New York
Hi My wife and I are thinking about a holiday for about 5 days to New York in the summer 2017 (probably early July). We are not sure whether to go through a travel agent or book the flights and hotel directly. We normally holiday in Europe and book everything ourselves online. As there will be no direct flights we will…

Cromecast or Amazon Firestick
My girlfriend, living in Armagh, cannot receive Southern stations via her aerial but she can pick it up on the RTE International Player on her iPad. I'm wondering what would be the best way to cast it from her iPad to her Sony television. The two options I can think of is the Chromecast or th Amazon Firestick. Anyone know…

Coin calculator
I have been sticking all sorts of coins, mainly 20p-£1 into a large coin tin for some time and now it is pretty choc full. Is there anywhere I can take this to count it up and get notes? I used a coin star once in Tesco a few years ago, the machine took 7% or something off me, would rather avoid that again. I could count…

Wood Burners and Fire Logs
About 18 months back I installed a wood burning stove (VARDE OVNE AURA 11 ) and I'm more than pleased with it. When I first installed it I burned a mixture of household coal, but no more than two small shovels in a day and a mixture of hard and soft wood. Yes, I know, not recommended but I was using up coal and material I…

Renting a Room in Belfast
Hi All, I've been looking around for a room to rent in Belfast, for at least 18 months and possibly longer. I've seen one of interest along the Castlereagh road that interests me (I've viewed a few overall). It's a nice little double room, with access to a laundry room, kitchen, living room and bathroom and a space at the…

Finding a good builder
We're doing up a property and what needs to be done involves brickwork, plastering, joinery and electrics. Rather than find a contractor for each trade, we'd like to find a good builder who can do the whole job. We think it's probably only 5 or 6 days work and most of it is cosmetic but a small part of it is structural…

As per title, just curious, and wondered if anyone knew why, for example, Ulster Bank, seemed to think it was. Heating oil - buying from a pump/emergency drums
We're changing from oil to gas in a few weeks and our oil is running low. We'll most likely need to get a small amount of oil either by buying a 20 litre emergency drum or two or getting oil at a pump (we have an empty drum). Any recommendations what's the cheapest way to do it and where to buy it (East Belfast)? Thanks.

Action Renewables - ROCS
We got our solar panels fitted July 2015 and submitted our first set of data in April 2016 through Action Renewables. As yet we have not been paid. Calls to Action Renewables have got us nowhere as all they say is Ofgem only release payments in batches and we just have to wait. Today my husband emailed Ofgem to chase them…

Wood Pellet Boiler or Oil ? UFH or Radiators
In the middle of a new build house in the country, so no mains gas. After adding as much insulation as we can we have the dilemma of which heating system to install. It seems basically down to oil or wood pellets. I have researched GSHP and ASHP and heat recovery, which are not going to work out for us for various reasons.…
