Belfast outdoor spaces and dogs
Hi all, Looking for some suggestions/ideas for parks or other outdoor spaces with 'limited' prevalence of dogs. A relative lives with a crippling fear of dogs and struggles with usual council parks etc as the majority of dogs (in my experience) in these areas are not kept on leads. The likes of Mount Stewart can be ok if…

Ear Piercing studios in East or Central Belfast?
Hi, I have read the thread about ear piercing recommendations in Belfast but the latest post was 2011. I would like to know if there are currently any places to use or avoid in East Belfast or the City Centre please? This is for myself - it is 20 years since my first piercings and I am keen to get a 2nd hole in each ear,…

Re-registering mainland car in NI
Hi folks, My daughter purchased her car when living in England, and is now back home in NI. The car will be three years old in September, and we expect that MOT will be required as it is an english registration. I can't find anything in DVANI about registering an english car in NI, although it appears you can do the…

Bank of Ireland - Structural Survey
Hi everyone I'm in the process of buying an end terrace in Greater Belfast. House appears to be in generally good structural condition. Kitchen Refurb
I need to refurbish my small kitchen, which is extremely old. I am happy with the layout so could potentially just go for new cupboard doors and handles (a few of the doors/drawers are not standard sizes). Can anyone recommend a company that would do this, and if the doors or drawer fronts are not standard, could that pose…

Poor Quality Work - Rules in NI
Hi, I'm new to NI and I recently got a painter in to paint a small bedroom and repair some parts of the wall. I was quoted a price of £230 including paint and given a schedule of two days. After two days of work I realised the room didn't look completed with wall paint on the skirting board as well as the mid border wood…

Advice on purchase of a washer/dryer
Hi I need to buy a washer/dryer and would welcome recommendations. My budget is around £300 - £400. I am particularly interested in one that offers a quick wash cycle. I won't be using the tumble dryer much as it will really only be used in emergencies. PS - Is there another thread I could/should post this on? Thanks in…

Crash Services (accident management) - has anyone used them?
I'm thinking of letting these guys deal with the recent damage to my car. Background here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5651375 I know these companies have a seriously bad rep but I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has used this one in particular. They have guaranteed me that I will not be liable for…

Buying Freehold confusion?
Apologies, I know there’s been numerous threads about buying the freehold on this forum, but I am still slightly confused. It appears, relatively, straightforward to redeem the ground rent but I am confused as to whether you own the freehold once you've redeemed the ground rent? The guide on the ni.gov site has this to…

Northern Ireland Residential Property Price Index
Don't forget, the latest report is out tomorrow. Should be available here: http://www.dfpni.gov.uk/lps/statistics-and-research-publications.htm Personally, I predict drops for Q4 2012 and Q1 2013, but not as big as the previous years. Therefore, I think the annual rate of decline will reduce from the current 12% to well…

VW Golf clutch repair / replacement
Can anyone recommend a garage (ideally in Belfast / North Down) that could replace the clutch on a VW Golf, do a good job but not charge a fortune? I'm not sure if a repair will be possible (clutch release bearing is going) and I know the main dealer is going to quote megabucks for a new clutch if we bring it to them.
