Santander ISA sneaky rate changes
Santander offer an eISA which is currently at a rate of 2%. However until recently this was just 0.1%. They allow you to upgrade your ISA at any time to the latest issue with a fairly simple (although more complicated than it needs to be) online form. Trouble is, the only place you can see where the rate goes up is the ISA…

Cash ISAs: if you open one, are you stuck with it?
Apologies if this question has already been asked. I am new to the forum and not sure... As interest rates keep changing - and right now increasing - if I open a cash ISA for the current year, am I then stuck with it until April 2023 even if it becomes a poor choice in comparison with more recently launched ones? So, say I…

Merging 2 ISA’s - a problem
Hi I’m looking for some advice I have a fixed ISA with the Coventry maturing at the end of Nov ( good timing I thought) I also have a Teachers building society ISA and I intended to merge them. However the Teachers one is a 90 day notice which I had forgotten as I’d had opened it quite a few yrs ago and so it can’t be…

Opening new ISA after closing old ISA
I had a help to buy isa with low interest rate and paid in £200 in April 2022. I have since closed the account but would like to open a new cash ISA - am I allowed to do this? I wasn't sure if I am allowed with remaining limit of £19800, or whether I'm simply not allowed to open one due to a £200 payment in April Thanks

ISA close down and open query
Hi everyone, Hoping to get some good advice from this forum. So I have a Cash ISA with nationwide (I call it OLD ISA), which was paying low interest. I decided to close it and open another Cash ISA (I call it New ISA) with Nationwide again with a better interest rate. I transferred all the money from the OLD ISA to the New…

Virgin Money E-ISA (ex Northern Rock ISA)
Hello everybody, We need some more help please. We have a Online E-ISA (E-Saver Issue 13). We have nearly £2000 in the ISA and have never withdrawn fancy money from the account. It says on the paperwork that if we do not withdraw we will receive 1.01% PA. We are really unsure if we should be moving this money to a better…

Paragon to Santander ISA transfer
Just thought I share my experience with transferring a fixed term ISA before maturity from Paragon to Santander. Due to early closure of the Paragon ISA, a 90 day interest penalty became due but I had worked out it would be worth paying the penalty as the Santander interest rate is double my Paragon one and I am only 4…

Do I need an ISA?
In the past I found ISA useless, perhaps because I did not have much savings and interest rates were poor. As we know things are improving if not yet perfect on the rates. So lets start with I am a higher rate tax payer. Since rates started to improve I have moved my savings out of the terrible HSBC to initially Chase and…

Closing ISA
This FY, I opened a Cash ISA and a Nutmeg S&S ISA and paid into both. I have another ISA with my main bank, which has been dormant since 2020 - no payment in nor withdrawals. Practically no interest at the moment (0.4% I think). I would like to withdraw this money and close the ISA, then deposit it into a high interest…

Transferring ISAs within the same company
I recently transferred a fixed rate ISA from West Brom to Virgin and it took only a few days. Unfortunately two weeks ago I then had a go
with another couple of ISAs with Kent
Reliance and Shawbrook that were paying very little and thought it might be
more straightforward to move them to the latest KR and Shawbrook 1 year…

Paying off the mortgage ISA investment: should I have to declare it to HMRC?
Hello I have an account with Aegon to pay off my mortgage. And that investment has reached the stage where I can pay off the mortgage. However, I asked Aegon if I could transfer these funds straight to my mortgage account with Nationwide. I was told that I have to transfer it to a current account. I spoke to Nationwide.…

5 year fixed rate ISA should I withdraw and open another at higher rate
I have a 5-year fixed rate ISA paying 2.1% that matures 15/12/2023 Would I be better of withdrawing it at a loss of 365 days interest and putting it in a 3-year fixed rate ISA paying 4,75%.

Moneybox Lifetime ISA now at 3.25%

It can be worth withdrawing ISA cash in order to transfer it
We're always told not to withdraw money from an ISA if you want to transfer it to another provider, because it will lose its tax-free status, but it can be worthwhile if (a) the new provider won't accept transfers in, only new money, and (b) doing so won't limit the amount you can afford to deposit in that tax year.

Isa costs when moving small print
Heads up if not already discussed. Just moved a five year 2.2% cash isa to virgin and was of the understanding I would lose 180 days interest. Just checked the money had been moved and yes all moved. However Halifax moving costs were £385ish on £17300 balance . As the interest is normally added in April I thought I would…

Hello guys. I'm hoping to get some clarity with this post whether CASH ISA is for me.
