Portfolio check please
Good morning everyone Hope this is OK to ask. Just after a portfolio check, currently holding approx 20% of each fund in my private SIPP, I’ve got 10 years until I can start drawing it. I posted in here instead of the pension forum as all the funds can be held in ISA’s too. I do know it’s tech heavy, which has done well…

Reinvesting S&S ISA into Cash ISA
Last October I cashed in a S&S ISA worth £45k intending to use the cash to part-fund a house purchase. However I am not now going ahead with the purchase. As neither I nor my partner have used any part of our ISA allowance this tax year, can we both now open cash ISAs or is there some restriction on doing so? I can't find…

TRADING 212 Cash ISA rate reduction to 5%
From 9th September rate will reduce to 5% AER It was inevitable and could have been worse, but still a good ISA to have.

Fixed rate ISA - monthly or annual interest?
I have a lump sum of £15k I want to fix for 2 years. An account offers Annual interest at 4.4%, or monthly interest payments but at just 4.3% Is this because of the cummulative effect, and the monthly payment will ultimately pay the equivalent of the annual rate? Or is it genuinely just a worse offer? Since it's tax free,…

LISA for retirement
I am just about to turn 40 next week. I’ve already got property and mortgage so LISA can only be opened for retirement. I already have a good pension with work. Is it worth opening LISA?

Tax on compound interest savings
Hi there, apologies in advance if there is an obvious answer for my question. Me and my wife currently have a mortgage (27 years left, 7 years left on a 1.99% interest product) We have been putting all our over payments into savings since we managed to lock into a mortgage with a lower rate of interest than saving…

5 year fixed rate ISA should I withdraw and open another at higher rate
I have a 5-year fixed rate ISA paying 2.1% that matures 15/12/2023 Would I be better of withdrawing it at a loss of 365 days interest and putting it in a 3-year fixed rate ISA paying 4,75%.

Charter Savings Bank - ISA Accounts - No multiple Current Year ISA Accounts Permitted
Thought people might like to be aware of this - I checked with them and this is part of the email reply I got: "The announcement made was only an advisory change, it was not a mandatory change each bank had to do. It was down to each individual bank if they wanted to make these changes and Charter Savings Bank decided not…

Columbia Threadneedle, Stocks and Shares ISA
I have a Stocks ans Shares ISA with Columbia Threadneedle. I've had this for years. The company holding the SandS ISA has changed over the years. I have just left this without much thought but had decided to invest add a small amount to it. The company has poor reviews, I think mostly on the Customer Service side. This has…

Lifetime ISA - Buying House (not first time)
Hi, first post as I’m struggling to find some accurate info, I used to own a property - subsequently have been divorced, sold the family home and have been stuck renting for a number of years. I’m looking into how I can get back onto the property market and out the rent race, and noticed the Lifetime ISA can be used for…

Using LISA - Mixed use property & 2 purchases
I am looking to buy a house. Currently a first time buyer. Price of house £350k with a mortgage. As a linked transaction I am looking to buy some adjoining land for £100k as a cash purchase. Plan would be to have a clause in the contract for the house purchase so I can exchange on the house but the contract is void if…

tax on savings.
my partner is a non tax payer earning less than £10k from a pension and is not old enough to get state pension for a few years. I am a basic tax payer from a pension, no state pension also not old enough.. We have savings that would attract tax as it would earn more interest than £1000. If my partner can get a better…

ZOPA Smart ISA - transfers in experiences?
From what I've gleaned, ZOPA's Smart ISA is a decent proposition as long as you don't mix & match their variable and fixed ISAs as they don't allow partial transfers (that is, transferring out from easy access variable ISA will also involve the closure and penalty for a fixed ISA). I intend to transfer in a couple of…

Santander - Fixed rate ISA - anyone UPGRADED?
Has anyone recently (or have experience of) 'upgraded' their soon-to-mature Santander fixed rate ISA via online banking? Is it a pretty straightforward affair? I ask as under account details for existing customers, it states: Existing customers Subscribing to your existing ISA If you haven't made a deposit into your cash…

ISA fundamental questions
Hello Despite considering myself a fairly intelligent person I still struggle with ISA rules! Any guidance would be great. My wife and I are higher rate tax payers and keen to keep earnings under 100k due to childcare allowances. My wife sold a property a couple of years ago and put the cash into ISAs. We have some money…
