Christmas cake recipe dating from 1970s/80s
Many moons ago I had a wonderful Christmas cake recipe taken from one of the supermarket magazines (?Living?) produced in the 1970s or 1980s. It involved soaking the dried fruit in half a pint of sherry for about a week and the results were wonderful! Does anyone by any chance have a link to the recipe, or something very…

An energy efficient kettle for less than £50.
The title says it all. I am sick of seeing the bar fly up on our display when the kettle is on. Can anyone recommend a kettle? I tried looking on the usual retailer sites like currys, argos etc but they dont say what the energy ratings are.

Quality Snow Globes
Hi Guys, Does anyone know anywhere that I could find good quality snow globes. I'm really struggling to find anywhere that sells anything which looks like decent quality. When I started looking I didn't think I'd have any trouble finding people selling them although I wondered if there would be much in my price range. I…

FabriCare kit worth buying for a new DFS fabric sofa?
For those of you who have a DFS fabric ***not leather or fake leather effect*** sofa, did you buy DFS's FabriCare Kit for £25? Was/is it worth it? Btw I know there are people here who are not fans of DFS, but I don't need to hear that their sofas are crap. Unlike those of you who aren't fans, some of us are on a really…

Dehumidifier?
I'm looking at the economics of getting a dehumidifier. Looking at this website http://www.dehumidifier-reviews.co.uk/dehumidifier-running-costs it tells me there maybe a saving or it might be cost negative? Never having used a dehumidifier before I'm not sure if there is a bias from the website or who sells the best ones?

Replacement blender
Hi Guy, This klutz managed to break a cookworks blender glass jug last week. Wondering what to do: 1. buy a new one, but which? I want a glass jug and most are plastic, but nothing more than three setting (inc. pulse) is needed. Anyone had any experience of Tefal blenders 2. Buy a cheap cookware with glass jug in hope it…

Where to buy jewellery? Pandora Bracelet
Specifically looking for a pandora bracelet - but just wondering where people might recommend. Ebay seems the cheapest unsurprisingly, but the question then is clearly are you getting genuine. Can obviously buy from H Samuel - but I'm guessing they are overpriced.

IKEA HEMNES Day-bed
I really like the below but as I got my King Size bed with mattress for under £300, I am a little reluctant to £409 for something that is a second bed for a second room that is seldom used (though it will also be the bed for the little one once he starts sleeping by himself.…

Wall clock that can be securely screwed to wall
Where I work our wall clocks seem to keep go "missing" (ie. being nicked). I'm having trouble finding one that can be securely screwed to a wall rather than just hung on a hook. Any ideas? Have to be at least 30cm diameter, preferably one of those ones that is kept accurate by a radio signal. Nothing fancy, black numbers…

Broad Nib Fountain Pen - piston filler
Any pen geeks about? I've been given some fancy sparkle calligraphy inks. Tried them in my trusty old Parker 25 but I think it really needs a broad nib to get the effect. I'm not going to faff about with nib changes so what I'm looking for is a cheap (sub £10?) broad nib pen with a piston or squeeze filler to experiment…

Struggling with bedding
Bedding really breaks my nerves. 1) The fitted sheet always gets off, perhaps due to the mattress sitting on top of the bed without and lateral support. 2) The duvet gets folded inside the duvet cover. How can I solve these problems easily? It's really so annoying.
