Hairbrush

I'm trying to find a softer version of the Tangle Teezer brush. This is for use by somebody that has difficulty holding a hairbrush with a handle and also has thin hair and tender scalp. She can manage to hold the Tangle Teezer but it's just too 'spikey' and quite painful on her scalp.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I don't know if I've found any tangle-teaser type brush that isn't as "spikey" as the actual Tangle-Teaser; I've tried a few and this was my main complaint with the actual Tangle Teaser! They do have a child version (looks like a flower) I've not tried this one but maybe if you can find one you could check to compare? I think I remember Hamleys stores and some of the larger Boots sell them amongst many other brands.

There are a few similar styles of brushes aimed at releasing tangles but they all seem to have handles. However, if you were not so set on a tangle-free style of brush and it was just the handle issue, look at Denman who offer a very soft brush- it's made for men but is not branded as a male only brush. Again, larger Boots stores sell this.

If you are very wealthy, Mason Pearson- who are pretty much the crown wearers of hair brushes, also make a hand-held model which you can get either with Boar-bristle or nylon bristle (or a mixture of the two). The versions with boar bristle get softer with use and are one of those "investment" types of brush which you only use for yourself as it works with your hairs natural oils (so you wont want anyone else's hair oils on the brush because it isn't washable!)

Thank you for such a lot of info, I'll look into all your suggestions - it's the hand-held rather than the actual detangle properties that is the important bit, so maybe the men's brush would suit her requirements. Thanks again.

If you google men's hairbrush you should get results for others too.
