I keep losing my pen at work :( its getting embarrassing keep having to ask for another one.

I have decided to buy myself one, theory being hopefully I won't lose it if I paid for it.

What would be a decent pen at a decent price, should I get a Parker?

Why not buy a box of cheap pens and then it doesn't matter if you lose them? Plenty of decent quality inexpensive ones around - even the good old Bic biro!
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

Why not just buy one with a lanyard?
If you buy a good one and leave it around, then someone else will pick it up. Office pens nowadays are seen as disposable so nobody thinks twice about picking up the nearest one and wandering off with it.

What a bizarre thought process: I keep losing something so I'll buy an expensive version. Why not learn to look after your possessions and when you've trained yourself to do that, reward yourself with something splendid? The alternative isn't a great way to gain peace of mind.

Back in my corporate days, those middle manager types that wanted to stand out and impress, used a fountain pen with strange ink colour (purple being a favourite). So, perhaps there is another benefit if you buy a fountain pen - promotion :)

Despite never using a fountain pen at work (honest), I've always had a fountain pen and used a decent ink. Currently I use Cult Pens who, if nothing else, provide more info than you could possibly need on pens.

Montblanc is a good one but very pricey. If you are looking for a less expensive option go for Cross Bailey Medalist fountain pen.

A simple Parker Jotter biro might be just expensive enough for you to remember to retrieve it, and if you seek out one that is identifiably brightly coloured, then it may find its way back to you anyway.

Squared if you have your name engraved into it.

Even more so if you give it a plausible "history" "Presented to mumtoone, Second Prize in Haverthwaite's Philosophy Essay Competition 2007" - an engraved pen really is a swine to try to sell on & with an apparent history, it appears easier to trace.

Besides which, you then get into all sorts of interesting conversations which can range from the sublime to the ridiculous - just never admit you had it made as a gag, but rather imply that it was a gift from a fellow competitor & family member - which excuses all sorts of daft japes (says she cheerfully suggesting another one).
