CEDR - any success stories?
Hi all I was reading Trustpilot reviews of the CEDR, and the rating is very low, obviously because the vast majority of reviews are from people who tried to claim against someone and lost. It made me wonder if anyone knew of any success stories of people claiming through the CEDR against their surveyor?

Rental Deposit: Holding Over
I rented a property on an AST, and paid a deposit as part of that. The fixed period of the AST ended after a year and now I'm holding over. Shortly after the fixed period AST ended, I received a letter from the deposit company to say that it had been automatically unprotected. I would guess that that the landlord should…

To move or not to move?
We are currently in a grade 1 listed cottage, which is small, but has single-glazing and no woodburner. The cottage is solely electric and we have storage heaters, in the winter our bills are up to £400. The rent is just under 1k. We have today looked at a bigger house, with secondary glazing, powered by LPG, which I know…

Freeholder Responsibilities for Exterior Repairs
Not sure this is the right forum but seems the best I could find. We own a (leasehold) Ground floor flat, 2 floor building with another flat above. The Ground Floor has an extension which is circa 20 years old (we moved in 5 years ago). Next door have been having ongoing damp issues, which it turns out is caused by a lack…

Survey didn't identify a non standard building materials
We had a structural survey from a reputable firm when we bought our house 4 years ago. It identified that the house was probably constructed of stone and rubble and apart from a few minor recommendations was a non problematic survey. We have now put our house on the market and had accepted an offer. The buyers surveyor…

Mortgage Offer Question
Hi everyone, my journey into buying a house is nearing an end, but I am concerned with one aspect of the mortgage offer. It states: The initial rate of interest will be 5.20% per annum fixed for 60 full months from completion after which interest will be charged at the lender's then standard variable mortgage rate, which…

Neighbour Dispute Question on House Sale Declaration
Hi I’m a first-time seller so I have no experience of what is provided in the buyer pack. I know there is a question about neighbour disputes but what constitutes a ‘dispute’? I intend to be as transparent as possible but at the same I obviously don’t want to deter buyers. I’ve spoken directly with the neighbour about…
