What is my residential status?

Options
I live in a flat which is owned outright by my parents, to whom I don't pay rent.

Some of the time I live on my own, while some of the time my children (whose mother lives elsewhere) live with me.

What is my residential status for the purposes of applying for finance, where "Other" is not listed as an option?

"Living with parents" is most accurate as you don't own the place buy also don't pay rent.

No the OP would have to be actually living with them to claim that, although they don’t pay rent they are still a tenant.

You're presumably a tenant, you just happen to not be paying any rent.

If it's car finance the question is more about stability.

Having thought over the issue, and however ridiculous it sounds, I think "Living with parents" is the way to go with this for the purposes of the application. It's an application for finance for a payment plan pertaining to extensive dental treatment. In other scenarios, I'd usually be able to select "Other" or elaborate a bit on my own circumstances.

Although "Tenant" sounds 'closer', it's not actually accurate as the legal obligations of landlord and tenant don't come into play.

Thanks everyone for your help.  :)
