Cheap ways to soften water - bath/shower
So I've discovered that my skin obviously does not react well to hard water, which is a bummer because I live in a part of the Country with very hard water! I don't want to fork out on getting a water softener added to my house, so I wondered if there are any tricks that I can use to soften the water say if I was to run a…

NHS dental bridge
Hi,can anyone tell me what materials NHS dental bridges are made of? And what is the maximum number of teeth you can have on a bridge? I'm trying to avoid any metal in my body and realise that if NHS did have anything suitable I would be paying private prices which I am more than happy to do. I have an appointment next…

I use a private dentist, he's very good, I need a crown on one tooth, I know that I've chipped off both sides and all that sits proud is a filling - remains of that is. MUA Pro-Base foundation
Has anyone tried MUA PRO / BASE Long Wear Matte Finish Foundation? Thoughts? It's just won a Pure silver award (ok, not for being a brilliant foundation but being a "vegan innovation"). But at £5 it's a fraction of my usual foundation, so worth a punt if I'm told that it does in fact keep me matte all day.

Free Eye Tests - Should You Trust Them
I've often wondered about the accuracy of optician's prescriptions. I'm now retired and have some spare time so when MSE offered free eye tests at Boots, SpecSavers and VisionExpress I decided to book all three and compare the results. It is worth mentioning that the Boots and SpecSavers tests were the same morning; the…

NHS Dental charges
So been having some problems with an abscess and contacted my dentist to see if they had any appointments, which they did a few days later. They took and X-Ray, determined it was an abscess and then give me my options, starting at the band 2 charge for an extraction, or root canal work (~£600) or specialist work, (about a…

Shiny new thread, with all the info carried over as follows:- Slimming World and Food Optimising is a plan for life, it's not a quick fix and you should look at weight losses over a period of time. I was hoping to change to another doctors surgery, because my current GP is not satisfactory. After trying to register with another surgery in my area I was informed that they will not take new patients on if patients already have a GP in the same area. Is this normal practice nowadays?
