Medisafe app no longer free from January 1st 2026
I've been using the Medisafe app for several years to keep track of my medication and supplements. I've found it very useful to prevent me forgetting, overdosing or totally forgetting a med name during a medical appointment. From January 1st 2026 users will have to pay a subscription fee or lose access. It's a fairly small…

Root canal (free on NHS) vs private implants to end gum infection?
Hi. I am unemployed and I can have free NHS treatments. I need to correct a bite problem, because the bad bite is cracking a few teeth, which is obviously done by a private orthodontist. I finally booked an assessment with a private orthodontist and, aside from quoting £7.000 for Invisalign (they do have 0% interest…

Dental Implants
How on earth do I go about finding a suitable implantologist? My NHS dentist has suggested that the time has now come, after 3 teeth cracked and removed over the last 5 years. Now another has cracked and will be removed soon. That is the tipping point. She will do a referral but their usual place is quite a distance from…

Cotton wool pads - reusable alternative
Hi all, Our local authority are moving to 3 weekly bin collections, not a problem for us as we never fill the black bin. But, it has got us thinking about just what we do put in there and we've challenged ourselves to make a more concerted effort to reduce our waste further. My main waste is cotton wool pads for skin…

Dental implant didn’t fit
After having gone through 7 months of this process, what should have been a final fitting yesterday, the implant (upper arch) didn't fit. The implantologist said it was 3mm out and was rocking on the left side. He took new impressions and sent them to the lab to be remade. It will take another 4 weeks for this to be done.…

Private prescriptions
Does anyone have any experience getting a private prescritption dispensed, either at a local pharamacy (e.g. Tesco) or online please? The online shops (a) don't seem to sell everything I need and (b) want to do their own prescribing. I dont need that, I've got a prescription. Converting the private script into an NHS one…

Private operation failed!
Has anyone else experienced something like this? I opted for a private operation because the NHS wait was just too long, but it ended up failing. They told me there was an 80% chance it would be successful, and now I’m back at square one after shelling out about £10k. Is there any chance I could get a refund or something?

Need treatment to correct my bite and need the correct orthodontist
Hi, male, late 50s, Birmingham. I've always had a problem with my bite since I was kid and later on in my life this is causing me mild pain and tooth cracks. My trusted dentist doesn't do orthodontics. I begged him to refer me to the Dental Hospital (NHS) here in Birmingham, which might do that for free, but he said I…

New Lenses for Old Frames
I've got loads of pairs of glasses which are in very good condition. However, my prescription has changed recently so I'm wondering whether it's feasible to get new lenses fitted to my old frames. Can you please advise me if this is a good idea and or who I could get to do it? The alternative is to pay a fortune for these…

MSE News: Moved to Universal Credit from Tax Credits? Check before claiming free prescriptions
If you've moved from Tax Credits to Universal Credit, don't assume you still qualify for free prescriptions and dental treatment from the NHS – the criteria is different and you may now need to pay. Fail to do so and you could be fined up to £100… Read the full story:…

Nutrition Geeks.
There seems to be a lot of stuff online about the above name providers of health supplements and vitamins, in particular Glycinate 3-in-1, containing magnesium, amongst other things. Has anybody tried their products, especially the Glycinate? Are they any good? Thank you.

NHS Dentistry band clarification
Few questions to help me understand: 1/ If I go to see my dentist under the NHS in Dec and they say I must return for a January appointment for a 'clean' and it was only a standard scaling, should that have been covered in the first routine check-up appointment and taken care of then or been a free appointment if they…
