They're at it again
They're at it again, small containers of seedlings, reared lovingly by someone somewhere, packaged to give protection, descriptions given as to how best to grow, and then these tender plants are placed in the hands of Wilkinsons. It ought to be an offence that this should happen. Citrus trees with admittedly small fruit,…

Using distilled water instead of rainwater?
Hi I'm planning on growing blueberries in ericaceous compost in pots. The tap water where I live is very soft, but I don't want to risk the plants by using it; everything I've read about blueberries makes it clear that tap water is unsuitable and states that rainwater should be used. I'm really reluctant to have a water…

If you are tempted to.................
If you are tempted to invest in solar lights, speaking as someone that has been buying them for several years, one of the best buys is at B&Q. An offer they have at the moment is for packs of 2 at about £3.78, but if you buy three packs (6 lights) you get them for less than £9. Lord knows how it worked out, but I bought 6…

Transparent containers?
I am looking for containers to plant my carrots and leeks and my local Pound shop sells transparent plastic containers that would be perfect (and cheap ;) ), but I am concerned about the roots being exposed to the light. Is this a bad idea?

What can I use to make a cloche?
I've got a large enviro-net over my brassicas, which is being held down on the edges with bricks, but now I need to make some sort of frame to raise the net off the sprouting brocolli as it's suddenly shot up and doesn't have any more room to grow! I had a quick look online for some of those hoop things but they seem to…

What does our garden need for the grass?
We have moved into a new build, the garden was laid and was pretty good tbh but slightly patchy which was to be expected. Allotment advice on Gardener's World
Just in case anyone hadn't heard GW have got a new hour long slot on Fridays from 8. This year one of the presenters is showing how to manage an allotment from the beginning. Footballs & balls in garden
This is going to sound a bit petty but here goes. Neighbours me are semidetached to has a son who plays with balls, very ocasionally they ended up in our garden, I used to tell him not to even bother to knock but just nip around the back & help himself. Then we had a side gate put on & he would have had to knock, but not a…

Patio cleaner
I'm quite taken by what I've read about the organic Algon path and patio cleaner as it's sounds a lot less work that using a pressure hose as I've done before. Trouble is, I can only find it in Internet shops, and the postage doubles the price. So two questions. Has anyone used it and what do they think? And do you know if…

Gardener's Question Time
Does anybody else listen to this radio show on Sundays at 2pm, radio 4? I find it informative and funny. It's suprising how much you pick up about general good gardening practise.
