Sunsynk inverter issues
Hi all, is anyone else using a Sunsynk hybrid inverter and battery? I replaced my Growatt inverter with a Sunsynk ECCO 8 kW model but I'm having problems with how it operates. The Growatt could charge the battery to 100% from solar and then 'spill' the excess to the grid. The Sunsynk doesn't seem to be able to do that. It…

Growatt inverter, and other solar related queries.
I'll try my luck here before looking for a more specialised forum. Brief background: a (non-profit, volunteer run) community organisation where I help, has acquired a building with some solar panels, and a Growatt inverter. I've been tasked with finding out how to make best use of them, and I'm completely clueless. (except…

Solar panels for loft conversion recommendations - Lincolnshire

Are these for real or scams?
Got 2 letters today, one from Pure Atom about claiming a £4000 ECO4 grant and another from Green homes scheme which says i can get £4000 to replace my current 16 x 250w array ( installed Nov 2015) with new 450w panels, keep my FIT payments and get an extra 10p a KW in addition to my current FIT payments. Are these true and…

Solar PV Gross vs NET output
I'm in the position of trying to sell my house and currently having an EPC certificate produced, the problem that I have here is that the MCS certificate for the solar array says I have a NET capacity (kW) of 3.82 and the EPC inspector is asking what my Gross capacity is which I don't know. What I have is 15 x 255W panels…

Solar Panel Company dissolved

DNO output reduction
So our supplier (Light Renewables) quoted a 20 x 500w system across three aspects E/S/W) with 8kw inverter and applied to the DNO. Heard yesterday that they have said must be less than 8kw so options presented are:- 1. Drop to 6kw inverter and keep all panels as unlikely to clip given the three aspects. 2. Drop to 6kw and…

Best value battery system?
I currently have a solax 3.6kw solar inverter, what's the best approach to add a battery to the system? Replace the inverter with hybrid or have an AC connected system? Is fogstar the best value at the moment, which inverter is preferred and do they have any wireless CTs?

8.5 kW Bifacial PV System: ~7 year ROI: Fact OR fiction?
Updated system size is 8.45kW at a total installed cost of £10.5K. Current ROI is forecast at 6.5 years. Hi there, I've recently been quoted for solar panels from 3 installers referred by Solarguide. My guidance to these companies was maximum solar power yield per panel for their proposals. Quote: The LG panels are dual…

EVEC home charging unit
Has anyone got / had experience of the EVEC home charger? My PodPoint has finally given up after 8 years (solid red light) and I'm thinking of replacing it. I don't require a smart charger - and after reading some of the reports of their foibles on various forums - I don't really want one. TIA Dave F

Fitting Battery to Solar
I have 11.04 kWh of solar panels with a 10kWh Growatt MOD 10KTL3-XH (BP) inverter, fitted in November last year. Its on a a 3 phase domestic system and export agreed under G98. I am considering fitting a battery, mainly to reduce the impact of peak rate in winter. As I understand it, the inverter is battery ready, so its…

Extended Inverter Warranties
Our PV system was recently commissioned and is working well. We paid an extra £250 to extend the inverter warranty from 10 years to 15 years. We have received an extended warranty certificate from the manufacturer (Growatt) saying that the warranty ends in June 2039. That's just over 14 years from installation. Growatt…

Solar panels seem to have stopped working
I'm new to this - bought a house with panels recently and am busy with loads of other things. They definitely worked - the meter readings were going up and the red light was blinking (with the frequency indicating the power (small meter at the top). Recently I noticed that the readings don't change and the red light is…
