Problems with Smart Export Guarantee after Octopus switch
Comments

Well,
transferred my Gas and electricity to Octopus - no prob. Then transferred FiT to Octopus. Slower than G & E transfer because British Gas contested the readings. After some argy bargy transferred FIT. Now I assumed (wrongly) that SEG would also be transferred. Had to fill out another form for SEG transfer and got to the point where I was asked for a DNO number. Have no idea what this is. Panels were commissioned in 2011 and originally with EDF then British Gas ( worst mistake of my life leading to Ombudsman ruling in my favour and BG paying compensation). So what is DNO and how do I find out what it is?

That might mean the Export MPAN, issued by the DNO to register your (smart) meter for export. You should be able to see this on your BG bills. Or you can check here using the import MPAN ..

Yes I have that but Octopus still insist they ant the DNO number.

if you have solar now you get a email G98 /G99 from your network provider ,As a early adopter all this was taken care of by the company and we were not aware of it . But now I think we know more of whats required when Iwas thinking of splitting SEG and FIT this was a problem but instead added a battery so had to reapply for more export capacity.

I moved my export to Octopus in February. I don't recall being asked for a "DNO number", but was asked for a copy of the DNO notification.
Exactly what are Octopus asking for? Can you share a screenshot or copy-and-paste their request?

It's usually an MCS number (from the certificate the MCS accredited installer gives you) and a letter from the DNO?

… and when I moved mine to Octopus, they didn't insist on the DNO letter owing to the age of my installation (from 2012).

Yes I have an MCS Number and it is recognised? Have asked for a copy of the letter from my DNO - SSE, twice now and waiting. Been through all the paperwork from 2011 without success.
Thanks for your help.

If the system falls within scope of G.98 or the predecessor G83 there may well not be a letter from the DNO. What you should have is your G.98 (or G.83) notification that you sent to the DNO.
