I don't know what the situation was in 2011

Engineering Recommendation G83 was first consulted in 2002, with Issue 2 coming into force in 2012, so it's fairly safe to assume that Issue 1 was force in 2011.

(Actually, the issue record on page 2 of Issue 2 shows Issue 1 being published in September 2003, with Amendment 1 following in June 2008. So yes, G83 was definitely in place in 2011.)

In which case @disinherited 's DNO should have a copy of the G83 submission on file and might be willing to supply them with a copy if asked. I think it is worth asking because whether or not this is, or contains, the "DNO number" that Octopus is seeking, they might be asked for this certificate in future if they moved from Octopus to another SEG provider.

Octopus - who have just told me they want a gen meter reading to pay fit! - are "looking into it with their FIT team". If no response soon may try SAR route.

    Thanks

Hang on a minute, FIT stands for Feed-in Tariff, a system of subsidising solar panel installations that was discontinued at the end of March 2019. @disinherited repeatedly refers to FIT when they mean the FIT Generation payment. If they say the same to Octopus, it's no wonder Octopus are a bit confused.

That's to be expected. You should have a generation meter and your FIT payments for the past decade-plus have been based on it.

Sorry, am I being a bit dense here?

I applied to Octopus to transfer FIT from BG. I (wrongly) assumed that this transfer included SEG. Once Octopus explained that it didn't I started to fill in the form to transfer DEG to Octopus. Got to the part where it asked for a copy of the DNO letter and couldn't as I didn't have it. Octopus and BG told me I had to apply to SSE to get a copy and that was when SSE told me that the system had never been commissioned. They have a record of an application for additional load(?) in 2011 but that was refused and has since lapsed.

I'm not entirely sure what you're querying.

I applied to Octopus to transfer FIT from BG. I (wrongly) assumed that this transfer included SEG.

FIT and SEG are separate. If you'd still been receiving FIT export payments (deemed or metered) they'd have transferred with your FIT.

Are you still receiving SEG payments from BG?

I think this has been covered before. Your original installer will have obtained this and should have supplied it to EDF. EDF say they have it and supplied a copy to BG. Neither EDF nor BG have been able to find it.

You need to get a copy out of EDF or BG, or make a new application to SSE. The problem with a new application is that you're existing inverter (unless replaced recently) will be G83 not G98 and no new G83 applications are possible.

Prising the document out of EDF or BG is probably the easier approach, I'd suggest.

The old Fit payment consist of Generation and a 50 % deemed export payment is that how you are getting paid or have you given up the export payment to try and get a higher SEG payment?

If you began under the FiT scheme you could be being paid for export in 3 possible ways:

    1. Deemed export, the amount being deemed to be 50% of your generation
    2. Metered export at the FiT rate for export
    3. Metered export at the SEG rate for export that is offered by your provider

You can switch from 1 to 2 but not from 2 to 1.

You can swtich from 2 to 3 or 3 to 2 but only once a year.
