Updating Sofar ME3000SP AC-Coupled inverter FIRMWARE/SOFTWARE.

Just putting this here for anyone Googling for this info. It's straightforward, provided you do things by the letter. I didn't, hence this post…

There are release notes for these; ask if you want to know about any, or ask on the FB page - that's where I was given it.

General consensus is, unless you need to update, prob best you don't! I wanted a version that included the Alpha-ESS battery, so V1.8 and above. Since V2.41 is mooted as a good and stable update, I went for this. It initially went wrong for me as I didn't rename the Firmware folder, a detail that wasn't made 'clear' in the generally-available instructions, such as https://www.setfirelabs.com/green-energy/sofar-solar-me3000sp-firmware-upgrade-procedure

Anyhoo, select your Firmware version, and download the zipped file. For me, this file was called: ME3000SP_2.41_Firmware-20260603T094844Z-3-001

Double-click to unzip. You should end up with the Folder 'ME3000SP_2.41_Firmware'. If you double-click to open this folder, you should find 6 bin and hex files within. However, that folder TITLE is of no use to man or beast or inverter, hence my considerable chagrin. What's more, you cannot rename it.

So, add 'New Folder', label it EXACTLY 'ES3000firmware', and copy the 6 bin and hex files from the unzipped folder above on to it.

Get hold of a micro-SD card of small capacity, say 2 or 4GB. Format this to FAT32. Now copy the 'ES3000Firmware' folder on to it.

Power down your Sofar - PV off, AC off, DC batteries off. Swap SD card, power back up - DC batteries on, and AC on - leave the PV for now. Settings > software update. Enter password 0715 (possibly 0001 is ok).

If it fails - mine did - don't panic; go back to main screen, and into settings and software update again.

Oh, and keep the original SD card safe and sound just in case you need to go back to it!
