How long did it take for your solar export tariff to be set up?
More of a nosey question to be honest:
How long did it take for your solar export tariff to be set up after your system was installed? Had mine installed April 21st, and only just got an email from octopus that it's set up for export, I've lost over 1000kwh of export 😢 reading the meter today.
Anyone had any luck asking for a backdate review?

I wasted a bit of time because I expected the DNO letter and MSC certificate to take a while to process. In fact both were available the day after installation. Once I'd made my application for an export MPAN to Octopus it only took a few days for it to become live.
You can't get a backdate.

No backdating possible but they may give you a small goodwill credit if you ask the customer agent. Sadly, G99 export allowance decisions have been severely backlogged since the War in Iran. I can't imagine Octopus has it any easier.
UK Power Networks had a team of 6 handling the entirety of their network with a 5X increase in applications since early March. I expect import tariffs are going to go even higher before they resume some semblance of normalcy. This will likely lead to an even greater increase in Solar for the next few months, if not longer.

That's the thing, you don't get the option to turn off the export if they're not paying for it, the grid still benefits yet you're the only one at a loss who paid the price. Seems unfair. I get that's it's not much of an octopus fault since they only get involved on the last stage, but given the handovers, the grid is getting away with free electricity 🤔

If you'd installed a battery at the same time you'd have saved the VAT on the battery and you'd have been able to capture most of the solar for use overnight.

i have, yet it's been mostly sunny in the south, even when it rains you get plenty of sunshine. My battery is full by 12pm latest and then it's mostly exported.

Our system was commissioned 31st May 2024. We received metered export payments starting from 15th June. However Octopus !!!!!! around arguing that details were invalid etc and that caused most of that delay. As a result they made a separate payment to cover the electricity exported during that time. So although strictly not backdating, the effect is the same, we got paid for everything exported from the moment it went live.
