Could new piping save money?
So I've got microbore pipework, and I've seen that replacing radiators does indeed mean you spend less on the new ones, at least in pure running costs Though I'm not sure if that'd be the same for pipework? I will probably want to replace my pipework anyway, because microbore CAN work with a heat pump, but it isn't exactly…

Outdoor Housing for Battery and Inverter
I have run out of viable space (that Mrs will let me use) to house my inverter and battery for when my solar arrives next month (GivEnergy). So have been looking at alternatives. Originally looked at stainless steel and GRP kiosks but that was going to cost me nearly £1500. So now i am thinking just making a 2m x 1m x 0.4m…

Solax vs Libbi batteries
The Solax batteries "work with Octopus" but so does their inverter Surely if you have their inverter, it doesn't matter so much that their batteries work with Octopus? Libbi afaik doesn't. Am I correct in thinking that it doesn't matter as long as you've got an inverter that "works with Octopus"?

GivEnergy new install - how do I stop grid export?

Solar inverter over voltage reports.
I wondered if anyone else had come across this. Today I noticed a lot of alerts from one of my inverters and on digging into the data I see these are over voltage reports. The faults caused my inverter to shut down numerous times. Are these related to the grid voltage being too high or is it something to do with the…

smart export payments
By generating electricity, you’re making Britain greener. That’s because all the electricity you don’t use at home feeds into the national grid, contributing to the total amount of renewable power. You’re paid a set rate for this power through your Feed-in Tariff contract, based on an estimate that you export 50% of what…

Tumble dryer - efficiency label
So I've got an A+++-10% tumble dryer. Ie: a regular one would use 195 kWh (Based on 118 cycles) but this uses 10% less First of all, the newer labels are based on x kWh per 100 cycles which is much easier to deal with, compared to having to look at the product sheet, and working out your own usage that way Secondly, I've…

Inspired by a post from ASavvyBuyer listing a V2H charger (link below) on the domestic battery thread I thought it might be useful to have a separate thread for V2H as this technology now looks as though it is taking off. https://wallbox.com/en_uk/quasar-dc-charger I have expanded the scope of the thread to discuss V2G as…
