Cost of a battery add on to pv?

I have a 2.5kw split over 2 roofs 4 and 2 panels. I'm using around 25% of what I generate. I have a inverter which you can't install batteries too.

I have 2 options replace the inverter and install batteries to that in the loft, which I don't like the idea off.

Or install another inverter with battery batteries under my stairs, I this will cause some losses but I think the batteries will prefer a environment with more consistent temperature that a loft will be.

How much would the just cost and can I expect to pay Somone to install?

You will have to pay for installation, unless you're a qualified electrician and happy to do all the admin yourself.
There are example systems here, look under the "AC battery storage" menu:

The cheapest seems to be £3095, for a Lux inverter plus one Uhome 2.4kWh battery. Price includes installation.

An AC-coupled battery will need squaring with the DNO I believe?

    I’d suggest a Pylontech US5000 for around £1800 & a Sofar ME3000 around £1100. Another £300 should cover switchgear & fitting.
    4kWp (black/black) - Sofar Inverter - SSE(141°) - 30° pitch - North Lincs
    Installed June 2013 - PVGIS = 3400
    Sofar ME3000SP Inverter & 5 x Pylontech US2000B Plus & 3 x US2000C Batteries - 19.2kWh

3k is quite steep, if I stopped all import then I'd save £600 approx. Maybe I'll wait until prices dip more

Have you considered switching to Octopus Flux and selling your excess solar instead of storing it? You don't need a battery (contrary to popular belief) and the earnings from export weaken the financial case for storage even further.
