New justification for refusing to pay foisted restaurant "service charges" without feeling guilty
A misleading indication of price is a form of dishonesty. A business deceives a consumer into believing that they will pay a lower price in order to entice the consumer into choosing a product, but the business subsequently charges a higher price. Many UK restaurants carry out this malpractice, particularly in London. For…

Gardeners' World 2-for-1 at Leeds Castle
Has anyone managed to find out how the Gardeners' World 2-for-1 scheme works for Leeds Castle? In particular, Leeds Castle's website says "Pay for a day and visit free all year" which sounds like annual passes, and Gardeners' World's web page for the site says "Get one free entry with one full-paying adult".…

Money Moral Dilemma: Should I stop paying for my irresponsible friend when we go out?
This week's MoneySaver who wants advice asks... My friend and her partner are irresponsible with money, wasting it on takeaways and other treats. She often asks us to collect them when we go out as they've no fuel in their car, and readily accepts if we offer to pay for meals and drinks, which we do knowing that they're…

Do you tip in restaurants?
Wasn't sure if this was the right place to put this, so admin, please move if needed. Do you guys (and girls) tip when you go for a meal out? Personally I hate the idea, and it's even worse when you've got the waiter standing next to you as you select "No" on the card machine. However, I always say that I don't get tips…

Tipping in restaurants
Is tipping in restaurants still done or is this now an out of date tradition? (Not clear to me why it was ever a tradition) Personally i cant see why i would tip anybody (not just catering staff) unless i had received a good service. Surely tipping everybody is counterproductive i.e there is no difference between staff.

Service charge in restaurants - yes or no?
I dislike service charges in restaurants/bars with a passion. Where does everyone else stand on this? I realise 'fancy' places and most places in London d this, but the practice is pervading many other areas of the UK now. This is not in our culture here in the UK - in London, many restaurants are owned by foreigners, who…

O2 are offering £20 off £40. It also says that if more than one member has priority then it can also be applied to the same bill. The terms are a little unclear has anyone used it before? It says "Multiple codes for the £20 off £40 spend can be applied to the bill if there is more than one Priority member with a valid code…

JUST EAT hideous charges
Hello, I noticed that Just Eat in my area introduced several food shops that traditionally never had delivery facilities. These shops come with a hefty cost of £2 for delivery. A bit pricey considering they do e.g. 20 deliveries in an hour, but hey, you can say it's alright. However, the poor consumers do not know what is…

What's the cheapest drink at the pub?
I'm going to sound really boring but I'm a water drinker at home. Even if I've got an early start for work, I still drink water not coffee. In the office it's water. After a long hard week at work, it'll still be a glass of water with my dinner. The only time I don't drink water is when I'm going to social events/going for…

Meerkat Movies
Thought I'd share this small success with you all - Just before Christmas 2023, I thought I'd have a go at getting the Meerkat Movie deal by buying cheap 1 day travel insurance as suggested by MSE. I found a cheap deal at £1.01 so went ahead and bought it. Sure enough, it worked! Not only do I have 2 for 1 cinema tickets…

Are vouchers worth it
Just had a meal at local hungry horse. Tried using vouchers. Couldn't use my Blue light discount as I'd ordered 2 for 12.50 but also another meal and desserts and drinks. then told I couldn't use my tesco vouchers either as can't combine with any meal deals! Waste of time unless I order all meals at full price. Anyone else…

VUE Imax on Saturday screening
Hi, Not sure if there is an offer out there, but you don't ask you don't get, right? Anyone aware of any deals on IMAX screening at Vue cinemas on Saturday?
