Jersey plants free £5 voucher
Hi all, I'm about to avail myself of the plants offer on this week's email. As I'm newly registering I can send anyone with an existing Jersey Plants account a free £5 voucher for "recommending" me. I'd like to offer this to someone for nothing. Does anyone have a Jersey Plants account? I'll wait until this evening to…

Jersey Plants Direct
Ordered the MSE Blagged 70 plants for £7.99, opening an JPD account. Few days later get an email from JPD offering what's seems to be the same package for £5.99. Only 2 quid but bit annoying as I trust MSE to be most competitive.

Anyone a self employed gardener?
I want to start gardening, gras cutting, hedges, weeding etc. Do I need a licence to get rid of the waste? I've heard different things and I'm not sure, whether it's free for a licence or not? And if it's free to tip? Thanks.

wobbly fence
Hi, We have a wobbly wooden panel fence (3 rotten posts below ground level). Fence is 10 years old, posts are bog standard square wooden posts (maybe 10x10cm) Can we just replace the posts, without replacing the panels? I kind of like the aged look of the panels. If yes, can you give me an indicative cost, inlcuding…

Berry plants
As a newcomer to gardening, I planted raspberry, Goosberry and blackcurrant plants in late spring this year and not one of them has produced any fruit! Were my expectations too high or have I done something wrong?!

Growing Garlic
I recently bought some garlic from a farmers market, so it's not your supermarket type that has been treated. I put a clove in a little water, and it has roots on it, after a couple of days. I want to plant this, and more, but I haven't had much success previously. I planted some last year, in a standard multi-purpose…

How are your tomatoes doing ?
...And how long should it take for tomatoes to get ripe on the vine? My biggest tomato (Gardener's delight) finished growing over 2 weeks ago but is still rock hard and totally green. It's outside. Has the recent heatwave made any difference to your tomatoes. I am in the East Midlands and we have had very warm weather -…

Fuschia leaves
I have quite a few different fuschias in my garden, but a couple, in separate tubs have got similar brownish/purple stains on the leaves. I dug one plant up and threw it away because I was unsure what these markings were, but I am reluctant to throw any more away. Does anyone know what they could be?

Why arent birds using my boxes?
We bought 2 bird boxes 18 months ago, fitted them at the top of concrete fence posts (6ft high up), with overhanging conifers that add shelter from the sun and rain, so id of thought in a pretty good location. Our garden is always full of birds, most mornings we can count 20-30 feeding, all sorts, sparrows, starlings,…

real grass or artificial grass?
Hi, Next summer I'd like a large shed removing from a corner of our garden and the concrete base digging up, then I'll have a square garden that I can grass. To grass or fake grass? I was thinking of artificial grass but sat next to a lady last week who told me she has to rake sand into hers every month, and it burns her…

Weed identification
I've been a bit lazy recently with hoeing and keeping paths clear and suddenly I have an invasion of a weed I haven't come across before. It is a horizontal creeping weed with long red stems and tiny green leaves and even tinier red flowers or seeds. It has spread really quickly just about everywhere. Does anyone know what…

When to remove watering timer?
I have quite a few potted bamboo plants watered regularly by a battery driven timer. My last one got ruined by freezing temperatures because I didn't take it in before winter promptly. Any ideas when I should take it in this year to avoid the new one getting damaged? thanks
