how to store bare root roses from David Austin
Options
Hi,
Just had 3 bare root roses delivered. Were supposed to come Fri and I would have planted them over this weekend.
However, they have arrived today.
Do I need to plant ASAP?
I really won't have the time to do this till Sat.
Can I store these over the week? If so how?
Thanks

They'll last a month or two. Ideally, leave wrapped up, in the cool dark garage or equivalent. If opened, just wrap them up again, or wrap them in wet newspaper. Don't stand them in water, don't put in the warm.
They'll be fine.0 -
thanks. Very reassuring0

I had some DA roses delivered about a week ago - I've 'heeled in' the roses until I'm ready to sort out their final planting position (i.e. dug a trench in a spare place in the garden - placed the roses in the trench and covered the roots with soil). I do this with bare root hedging as well and it works really well.0

My understanding it if you can't heel them in, key thing is to keep them moist (not wet) and they should be fine0
