Itea ilicifolia propagation
Can anyone help me? Is it possible to take cuttings from the Itea ilicifolia? Also when is the best time ? And how do I take the cutting/which piece? I have one which is on a north facing wall, and been there for many years now. I love the long white racemes, and the fact it's evergreen . I have recently removed a…

Transplanting Cyclamen
There is a tiny cyclamen in the lawn of our communal garden. Never noticed it before but this year It has produced a flower even though it is struggling to survive. At some time the garden maintenance company will just run the lawn mower over it when they come to cut the grass. Presumably this is not the best time to…

Seed saving
Hello fellow gardeners So I've been looking back at the successes and failures of my veg gardening this year, and as part of that review I would like to have a go at saving seeds which isn't something I have done before. I know about leaving runner beans on the plants until they turn brown and brittle (maybe if the rain…

Amaryllis Bulbs
I have several Amaryllis/Hippeastrum bulbs in pots in the house. They all flowered at the beginning of the year and now have just leaves, about 12ins long and no sign of dying down. What should I do now, hoping they will flower again? I've fed and watered them all Summer

Metaldehyde slug pellets in bulk?
I'm fed up of paying through the nose for the small tubs of slug pellets, so I'm after at least 5Kg of 'em. I've managed to find 15Kg bags, but they're 3% metaldehyde rather than the 1.5% stuff that's usually sold in the shops. So my question is - does anyubody know of a source of 1.5% pellets in bigger sizes?

Cuttings from Tree Peonies
Has anyone done this?My neighbour had her brambles cleared and despite me clearly marking the boundaries of an open part of our gardens, writing 'leave' on my side and speaking to them twice about not touching anything they have chopped the 2ft Tree Peony that I've been cultivating for 2yrs, to the ground. It's unlikely to…

Roots
Quick hypothetical question, I keep reading that if someone cuts their neighbours tree roots and that tree falls due to it being made unstable by the cutting of the roots then that is negligence. what I can’t find is what the happens to the person who has killed the tree? Is it a civil matter? I have briefly read elsewhere…

Water lily floating to the surface
I've got a 10ft x 6ft pond, roughly 3 feet deep in the middle. Water lily (sorry, can't find variety at the moment) in the centre has done brilliantly this year. Been flowering for maybe three or four months, and leaves cover a third of the pond. Recently I've noticed it had leaves with short-looking stems near the…

Neighbours' conifers are brushing against my house. Should I offer to pay to cut them down?
I have two neighbouring houses to the left of my house, both with large conifer trees which have overgrown and are brushing against my house. I want to remove them completely, rather than just cut back the branches to the boundary. They're hideous as they are so close to the house, and I'd also have to continually pay for…

Environmentally friendly banks
Having watched David Attenborough's latest film, I'm wanting to switch away from HSBC (who are finding fossil fuel companies) to a more environmentally friendly bank. Can anyone recommend any eco-friendly banks to switch to please? How do you know if a bank is genuinely ethical?

Birdfeeders and rats
Has anyone solved the problem of how to keep rats away from the birdfeeders? Obviously they are picking up bits off the floor, but the little devils can shin up the bird feeder pole and perform acrobatics to get to the feeders. At the moment I've stopped feeding the birds, but I do miss their cheerful chirping!:o

What is this?
Two of these fungi have appeared in the garden, one in a flower bed and one in the grass. They have grown very quickly. What are they? Never had anything like it before, what has caused them to grow?

I am so shedded-out! I am looking for a basic garden shed around 6ft wide by 4ft deep, preferably with a window. As cheap and basic as possible. I've googled and there are so many different companies and just when I think I've found a suitable one I find it's out of stock. And don't mention reviews There's something wrong…

Top soil challenge
Hello there, I need a large volume of topsoil (to fill new beds; refill existing beds; add thick layer to entire lawn). I’m based in Surrey; I don’t drive; and I don’t have rear access to my back garden. My plan A was to order 20 bags of Wickes graded topsoil since they are 4 for £10; and each bag is a manageable size.…

Honeysuckle - minimum depth?
Hello, Can someone tell me the minimum depth hole required to plant a honeysuckle in the ground. Rocks under my lawn might be an issue. It feels like I’m digging up a quarry! In case it is an issue: can someone tell me the minimum depth and diameter pot required to plant a honeysuckle. I have bought a little honeysuckle…

Alkanet again
glyphosate got rid of the worst of my alkanet and nothing has reappeared in its place so I’m confident that that area at least I got the roots. Glyphosate was less successful on the very small, bit bigger than a seedling plants and they are now reappearing. What’s the best way to keep it under control? I can keep on…
