Shed hunting - recommendations please
Options
I am so shedded-out! I am looking for a basic garden shed around 6ft wide by 4ft deep, preferably with a window. As cheap and basic as possible. I've googled and there are so many different companies and just when I think I've found a suitable one I find it's out of stock. And don't mention reviews There's something wrong with them all it seems.. We used to manage without reviews in the old days but now I really can't work out the best deal or company. As someone else will be erecting it for me I don't want to make it harder than necessary so they have to fiddle about to make things fit and so on.
Can anyone recommend a company or the best way of doing this? I think I'm just going to stick a pin in one in the end - and it's bound to be rubbish. Thanks.

I am in the market for a shed too - decided to go with a local company who will both build and erect so it will all be their problem if bits don't fit!
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Grown men cry when they see what they've bought! My neighbour went on holiday and I offered to finish off his shed rather than leave it open to the elements and I almost cried when I saw it up close!Local companies with proper display facilities are the way to go if you want something that will last, but if you really must go for the cheap end of the market, something from a garden centre should at least let you look before you purchase. I know one of ours has a single display model that covers their range from about 6'x4' to 10' x 6' all of identical design (apex with door and window.)

I don't understand why you're bothering with reviews. Anything as basic and as cheap as possible is going to be of not great quality. It's a given.Just get a secondhand one. Can't get cheaper than that.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi2

My neighbour has one that looks like it's plastic. Very smart in grey and white though I'm thinking that if you want to attach tools to the walls it's not so great. Also despite a vent it seems she has to open the door in sunny weather so not sure what that's about other than appearance.I had a wood one, it lasted 50yrs, occasionally treated the timber, put pegboard against the upright internal struts and used hangers to put the tools out of the way. Big window, When it finally got a rotten bit thanks to my neighbours ivy and trees it was easy to repair with overlap boards. Easy to reroof And I'm not handyman.

if you are looking to pay a grand for a shed, you are better off building your own one
lots of places do secondhand timber (3x2 or 4x2) for the framework
secondhand windows & doors (sometime UPVC can be found cheaply)
Loglap/shiplap 19mm from ebay (used to be a place near doncaster that delivered around the country)
bricks/blocks to lift frame off the ground, loglap/shiplap overlaps bricks/block allowing rain water to drop off the wood to the ground
only thing i spend big on is roof, 19/24mm plywood sheets and EPDM rubber roofing + their trims (trims are costly but do set it off, other thing i do is put aluminium angle on the corners as protection (40mm X 40mm)2 -
Bought 3 of these over the last few years. 8 x 11 ft. One for myself and two for relatives after they saw mine up. Circa £700 from Costco at their yearly discount time.
