Do student loans/grants/bursaries count as income?
My ex husband gave up work to be a full time uni student. I gather he lives off loans/grants/bursaries - are they classed as income that he'd had to pay something towards his daughter. I've received nothing for 2 years now, my tax credits have been cut and I'm struggling. He also rents his house out but tells me the rent…

Advice to parents paying by direct pay
Hi this may or may not be useful to NRP's paying by direct pay but thought i'd post it just in case it can help anyone. I have recently made my first direct pay payment and realised that my ex partners name showed up on my bank statement which is a bit of a kick in the teeth to my wife who often deals with our banking…

Any experience since REMO's were transferred to Bury St Edmunds?
I applied to have the REMO enforced and to have some help collecting the arrears 2 years ago <sobs> and since everything was transferred to Bury St Edmunds in June last year I've heard very little. I can never get through to them on the phone, and it's taking them a month to reply to any emails. The order expired in April…

What happens in the 'gap' between CSA case ending and CMS case starting?
I am the paying parent and the CSA case ends in a couple of weeks. CMS told me on the phone that they start to set up the new CMS direct pay after the CSA case is closed, and this can take up to six weeks. Does anyone have experience of what happens during this gap? Do I accrue arrears which I then clear when the new CMS…

BEFORE you shoot me down bear 2 things in mind: 1. I am speaking only from my own experience 2. Government petition to make the parent receiving child maintenance provide receipts
In my opinion when a parent is paying child maintenance all of the money being paid should be spent on the child/children involved. Now I know that not all parents receiving child maintenance use this to fund their social lives and I am only going off what has/is happening in my case. However I believe that if receipts had…

Selling Property - CSA
Hi, I've had twenty years of the CSA. Dutifully paying whatever I've been required to do. Contact with my children broke down some time ago, and I have unfortunately lost that bond with them. The youngest child is 18 this month, and if he goes to University, like his siblings, I will finally be free of the CSA in…

How does csa assess a newly self employed person?
Hello I'm thinking about becoming self employed because it's not been easy to find a regular job. However I don't know how much I'm going to earn in the first year, and of course I have no previous years of self employment to use as a guide. In such circumstances how will the CSA/CMS calculate my payments in the first…

Using an umbrella company to avoid child support
My ex is an airline captain earning £10k per month. He sets up a company, he is the director, the only employee and pays himself £600 pm. He generates a pay slip from his 'company' to 'prove' he's on £609 pm and gives that gleefully to the CSA. They use this pay slip to calculate my maintenance which works out at £100 per…
