buying a laptop in america

As most new machines come with Windows 7 or maybe even Vista pre-installed, how does one make a DVD/CD copy of the Install discs for re-installation apart from contacting the computer company and paying for a copy? Custom installation on macbook
i need to install photobooth on the mac as it does not work, is it okay to use the disk and install as i do not want to lose any of the pics and tunes already on there, i presume the disk will allow me to select photobooth and nowt else cheers
