Help with b/band & phone setup

We have moved to a new build which has the main BT point at the front door and the electricity point the other side of the hall which is where we have to plug the phone in. The room where the pc will be is up a flight of stairs which is a fair way. Is there any other way other than trailing wires everywhere of setting this up?
Thanks

You'll need to set up a Wireless network. You will need a wireless router if you haven't already got one and a wireless card/dongle for your computer/ laptop.
Have a look here: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/organization/wirelesssetup.aspxR.I.P Dad. I will never forget you xxx0 -
You could run some (or get someone to do it for you) telephone extensions in.
Done properly they wouldn't have wires trailing all over the place.0 -
Homeplugs would be the neater solution. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Yes it would, ring main does not matter. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Ok so we have the BT router which i guess isnt wireless? if not i am assuming it needs wiring to the pc..
A very long extension lead seems like the only option at the mo which is a pain..why dont they think of these things in new houses?!0 -
It would help if you told us which model of BT router you are referring to? If not wireless, ring BT and blag a free Home Hub, all of which are wireless. Or you can buy a Home Hub 2 on eBay for about a pound upwards...
Running a long telephone extension cable from ground floor to 1st is not only messy, but will probably greatly reduce your broadband speeds.
Wireless or Homeplug is the way to go for you.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
