I have Dell Dimension PC which came with Windows XP Media centre edition...[free upgradable to Vista Premium]
When I treid installing Vista Premium, the product key was not validated. The product key is in a sticker on the CPU.
I tried at the microsoft support page, to findout how to change the product key...but couldn't understand.
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cu_sc_prodact_master
It supports either XP or Vista but not from XP to Vista.
Should I contact MS or what else to do?
I am getting a notice to change the key in 21days otherwise vital info will be lost:(

2. Select your country in the drop down menu.
3. Click Continue on the UAC prompt.
4. A toll free phone number will appear with a set of numbers generated by Windows and displayed on your screen.
5. Call the number and Follow the automated instructions.
If the activation service informs you that it was unsuccessful and cannot help you with activation, then stay on the line and your call will be transferred to an Activation Representative.
Simply explain to the representative the situation and they will assist you in activating Vista.

If not, contact Microsoft by e-mail because it is a premium rate support line as far as I know0
