Considering buying a desktop, possibly a dell deal and had a quick look at ebay. You can get some high spec pentium IV for around £300 for the base unit alone. Obviously they are built with cheaper parts but are they still good machines?

Sony Viao does not work on battery?
I've had my Sony Viao for just over a year and now it does not startup unless it is connected to mains. The battery indicator says it is empty even after I have left it charging for days? Any Ideas? Is this normal?

Problem with CD-rom drive - can anyone help?
Hi, I have a 3 yr old Dell, and the internal Cd-rom drive has just packed up. Windows is no longer reading the drive nor is it picked up when i start up the system. and I can't does anyone have any ideas how best to fix this?
