Dell deals?

Hi
I'm thinking of getting one of the Dell deals which runs out today. But i am afraid that if i get it today better deals will come out tomorrow - or if i dont' get it today the next set of deals will be worse.
Has anyone got any idea of 'patterns' of Dell deals? Are they likely to get more expensive before getting cheaper?
Or am I asking - how long is a piece of string?
By the way - I'm thinking of getting the Inspiron 6000
Intel® Centrino® Mobile Technology with Intel® Pentium® M Processor 740 (1.73GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB) & Intel® Pro Wireless 2200 (802.11b/g)
512MB 400MHz DDR SDRAM
80GB Hard Drive
15.4" Wide Aspect UltraSharpT WXGA (1280X800) Screen
128MB ATI® MobilityT RadeonT X300 Graphics
Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Drive
For £671.
It comes with a free printer but i was hoping to swap that for a screen upgrade to a WSXGA+. Does this seem a good deal or does anyone reckon it might get better tomorrow?
Curse Dell and their ever changing deals combined with my indecisiveness
Cheers

It certainly sounds like an OK machine at an OK price. I doubt whether you'll get the screen upgrade as a swap, though. Screens are expensive, and printers are given away in cornflakes these days!
The sad fact is that anything you buy today will be out of date tomorrow. It may be cheaper, it may have more RAM, better screen, whatever. If you like the machine and are happy with the price, just do it. You could procrastinate forever when buying a PC - take it from one who knows! There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences. - P.J. O'Rourke0 -
Hi there, I too was thinking of this machine, I have been scouring dell for a few weeks now, can any of you techie people tell me the difference between the ones in the home section and the ones in the small business section. The small business ones seem quite a bit cheaper........here are the links............

I would`nt say the recent Dell deals have been anywhere near as good as past ones.
Most of their deals run out today so more will be out and with the Christmas market in mind you could do a lot better.
Just remember no matter what you decide, sooner or later a better deal will come along.
If you are happy with the price and don`t want to wait
get it.
Personally I would hang on.

Just spotted your post
The ones in the small business don`t have VAT,but you will have to pay unless you can prove you`re exempt.0 -
Thanks for the advice guys. I'm going to hang off till tomorrow and see what deals it brings.
I do need a new pc though as my old one, which i tried to fix, seems to be dead as a dodo. So hopefully I won't be kicking myself tomorrow.
Now i just want something that doesn't involve me ever having to try and fix it myself! Unlikely i know but that's my dream

I think you will find the basic difference is that the Business quotes have yet to have VAT and delivery charges added0 -

I am having just the same dilemma over the same machine!!!
I am thinking of buying it today and then if tomorrow there is a better deal on, I could always cancel the order and then order one of the newer deals.0 -

Not a bad idea! As long as it isn't too much hassle to cancel that would work well :T0 -
I did it!! I ordered my new laptop :j
Well I'll hope there are no better deals around - or I'll cancel my order.
I didn't mange to swap the free printer for a screen upgrade but i did get the screen upgrade for £10 instead of £35. Not a huge saving but still £25 is better than nothing!
Thanks all - now I just have a week or so of waiting.
