Advice on Purchasing home PC - TESCO or DELL??

Have seen an advert for PC on Tesco site £389.00. Also adverts on Dell. Which would be the best buy.

Basically want internet access at home.

Have had mixed responses from work colleagues re: Dell.

Can anyone give me advice please.

Thanks

PF

either of these cheapest PC offers are OK for basic Surfing and word processing but will not play the latest games etc, will cope with basic photo editing but could really do with 512mb Ram to do this (these cheap deals normally have 256mb)

  • Cant go wrong with Dell.

They have an excelent customer support.

look at it this way, what technical help are you going to get from Tesco???

Without doubt Dell.....Used them for years, just bought a laptop and desktop and for the price both are excellent...would suggest checking for the specials like money off, free double memory and free delivery etc...this can make it even better value for money.

Can't agree with the "theyv'e gone a bit downhill lately..... ", top notch in my opinion.

I've been looking around for a while, i'm after a cheap but good laptop, but do dell do wi-fi... if they do, it doesn't seem to be advertised... on tv it says you can get a pcworld laptop with wifi for £499....

All I can say is that my opinion based on purchases and friends purchases, I have never had a problem....My last order was a laptop last Monday, arrived 4 days later...

I prefer to build my own PC's, but when purchasing for friends and family (cost effective) I only buy Dell, never had a problem yet (touch wood)....Horses for courses I suppose.

Dell Dell Dell (needs to be more than 10 chars in the reply).

  • gotta say you would be better off with Dell, their mnaufaturing quality seems very robust, the only thing i would say negative, is if you ever have to call them for customer support be ready to speak to some1 in india

who will try to tell you they are in newcastle and they're name is John although when you tell them "you sound like a female to me" they will tell you "

"ofcourse i am female sir - my name is John" :D:D
these foreign call centres can be bullied into giving you money off your order though if you threaten to send everything back to them cause you hav just seen a better offer 5 days after after receiving your order. !! Gave me £150.00 back straight onto my c/card after speakin to a manager who by the way was called Justin (and sounded male) !!
